Trying hard not to blog...
Sorce's Monthly Backlog - Feel the Love!
Right then, I've got 17 different comics on my pull list; and I always thought I "wasn't that into them".

Aspen Comics
Cannon Hawke #5 - Cannon v. Taras!

Cannon wins, natch. Afterwards, he realizes he needs to return to the water. Which he does, a renewed man. Look out Maylander, here he comes!

Marvel Comics
Franklin Richards, Son of a Genius - Cute. But not in a "wish this was ongoing" way. I figured this would be one comic straight through and what I got was a (seeming) collection of backups in one issue. Not a waste of money, but...

New Avengers #15 - The "official" unveling of the team, sans Wolverine. Decent writing, mostly on the part of Carol Danvers and Spider-Man. Only "real thing worth noting was all typed occurances of the phrase 'House of M' were in strikethrough. And Spidey's costume smells like Symbiote.

She-Hulk #5 - Cool. But the horse on the cover weirded me out. And now there are TWO love triangles currently going on! We've got the primary between J. Jameson, Jennifer, and Pug... but now there's an Awesome Andy, Mallory, Two-Gun to toss into the mix. That and Andy's "Secret Missions" are to be Mallory's physical therapist guy. Last issue pencilled by Juan Bobillo w/ Will Conrad taking over next month.

Son of M #3 - I didn't give a crap when I saw this... although my opinion has improved a bit since reading it. Apparently now Pietro does have a mutant power, he can travel (forward) in time. Well, until he gets tired, in which case he shoots back to the moment he left.

He escaped the Moon with Luna and then exposed them both to the Terragenesis crystals. The End.

X-Men: The 198 #2 - It's not a Concentration Camp, it's a "Safe Haven". Even though the guards are patrolling on the inside.

Most of the issue is spent talking about Mr. M and how much of a threat he could be. So naturally he saves the day at the end of the comic. That and the kid with the tentacle creature for a chest can make miniature clones of people.

Young Avengers #10 - Ted gets kidnapped so Bill and the crew find another YAer; Tommy the speedster. we find out that Ted's mom is dead, and his father is... a Kree? Sorry. Can't get any more specific than that. But the team is all together, and I feel that it's just the beginning of an Excellent Adventure.

Or at least not a Bogus Journey.

X-Men: The End, Book Three: Men and X-Men #2 - Mo' Death! Woohoo! This time it's Mags and Polaris... though Magneto says the line of Lensherr is dead after Polaris kicks. So I guess Pietro and Wanda are already dead somewhere. The main villain is finally annnounced... It's Cassandra Nova w/ The Brood!

Let the War Begin!

DC Comics
Batgirl #73 - The End. We find out "for sure", that Sandra WuSan is indeed Cassandra's mother. I'm making a point to calling her Sandra because she didn't craft the "Lady Shiva" legend until after Cass was born. Which alltogether is a (flimsy) reason, but enough to be why Shiva never said she had a child before when she was drugged.

Regardless, Cassandra beat her down and left her to die hung over a Lazarus Pit. End result? Cassandra realized she wasn't a killer, but she wasn't Batgirl either.

Batgirl's Narrator
She was only a runaway girl... named Cain.

Birds of Prey #91 - Last Issue.

Kidding! It's the last issue before OYL though. Mostly a filler issue, guest writers and artists all around. Joe Bull needs a Kidney transplant, and the Birds are seeing to it that he gets the Kidney. Decent issue, any chance to see Babs is okay with me... but like I said, it's a standalone. Nothing "to" it.

The Exterminators #2 - Ho-lee Shiat.

So Henry and AJ are out shopping where Henry sees the Latina mom from #1 and offers her his card in case she has a bug problem.

*snicker*

Anyway, we see Henry's got a girlfriend, and apparently an Aston Martin hidden somewhere. The girlfriend works at Ocran, and is a big up and comer there.

The trick is that Ocran makes Draxx, the bug poison I mentioned in the first issue. Though deeper research into the formula shows that it can be used as a highly addictive narcotic on humans. Well, up until their body can absorb any more (it has no means of getting rid of the substance) and the person's internal organs explode. Literally. Boom-boom from the chest.

How is this a problem? Well, AJ's been jacking it up; by the end of the issue we get to see what he's made of... and the fact that he keeps a locked box that has both a Swastika and a roach design on it.

Gotham Central #40 - Conclusion to the whole shebang. And not the Milestone character.

Corrigan and Mulcahey are interrogated, but let go. The ballistics from the gun they know he shot Allen with don't match the guns they have. Apparently someone was paid off and switched the barrels so the markings would be a little different.

Montoya takes it hard. She gets drunk, and finds the two "cops" going at it like bunnies. Mulcahey gets pistol-whipped to unconsciousness and Corrigan gets a gun to the head while he begs for mercy. Montoya doesn't pull the trigger. The next day she goes to Captain Sawyer, turns in her badge and gun, and walks out.

Fin.

Green Lantern Corps: Recharge #4 - The two GL teams meet up on Vega, where it all goes to hell. They have the bounty hunters on their tail, and they're hiding in the Spider Guild's home planet. Well, the Spiders find out they have 6 GLs there and decide now's a good time to take the fight to Oa. Seeing as how their new universe domination plan involved fighting them anyway. Next issue is the last, and it's The Spider Guild v. The NuCorps on Oa. STAY TUNED!

JSA Classified #8 and #9 - Two-ish arc starring Jay and Wildcat. Spear of Destiny is back and being used to control metahumans. Specifically, Jay and Wildcat. So we get to see the two of them fight, but they're stopped before Jay kills Ted.

We also find out that Ted has two of his 9 lives left. Well, one by the end of the story. At the end though, the Spear is lost in the Atlantic "forever".

Nightwing #117 - d**k fights Slade. d**k saves Rose. d**k proposes to Babs. All is good. Essentially Devin made d**k the Nightwing that Dixon was writing during his run.

You know, minus the car plant as a base.

Robin #147 - Save the Superboy! They (Teen Titans) do, with some top secret help from Lex. We also get to see the first attempts by Brainiac to make an organic body. They're all monstrous, ugly, and mad. Joy?

Teen Titans #32 - The Superboy-Superboy fight from the ground level.

Beast Boy and the rest of the Doom Patrol slowly start to get their Pre-Crisis memories back, but back in the "real" world...

It's narrated by Kon-El, and it's about Family, and what that means. We realize that no matter what, the Titans are Connor's family.

Didn't we know that already?

Wonder Woman #225 - Words fail.

Read it.
