Us vs. Them: "Ahora entiendo muchas cosas, XDDD"
So, like, I just got home from school. The last lesson was English. And though I usualle draw, fall asleep or something like that in "school english" today we talked about something worth journal XD

Our homework was a translation (=D!) of an article about british schools.Of course, as I did it, several conversations with Gaians came to mind, not only british gaians but about how weird foreign school systems are in general

I'll quote the conversation now:

Morph: "We have more compulsory subjects than they do .-_.-;;"

Teacher: "But they have as optional the ones you have as compulsory, so it's about the same"

Morph: "But, for example, we have English language as a compulsory subject *psht!*"

((note: according to the text, /they/ have only one foreign language, which is either french or german. We have english AND french or german))

Ana: "Don't they learn spanish as a second language?"

Teacher: "Nope. It's the british arrogance (*Morph giggles slightly*).In past times England and Spain were kind of rivals, too (*cough*America*cough*) and well, we never meant much to them...so they pick french or german as their second language"

*people in the class start saying things like "OMGTHEYDON'TLIKEUS", "kill 'em all!" or "Gibraltar is ours!" and I say something to Clara about knowing someone who learns (or used to << >> wink spanish as a second language, and someone who doesn't but wants to (go gaia, makes me know stuff xDDD)*

Morph: Yeah. But, for example, something I hate is..when /we/ go /there/, we have to speak english.Ah, but when /they/ come /here/, they don't speak spanish, we HAVE to speak english to them *ahem*

Teacher: Yes! And they get upset.'What? don't you speak english!?'

I guess it's the way things are. Now, to continue with the text topic, their schools are..."

...xD it's funny how these kind of conversations come up in class, because then I start to think about how many of "them" I know on Gaia and everything

But the whole "Us (spanish) vs. Them (english-speakers, both from the UK and the USA)" is a permanent war that has been going on forever.It makes paying attention at school sometimes worth it XD;

But it's all the textbook's fault! One of these days I'm scanning a page...

My theory is that the writers want to manipulate our minds.Because, no matter what, conversations like the quoted above always end up like "..they live better than us *gonk*".It's true! The teacher told us today about their studies, and that very few people 'there' get to university and blah blah blah...

..meh xD

(to any of "them" Gaians who may read this: You go =3)
