-Physical description-

Height: 5'6

Weight: 156 Lbs.

Hair color: Soft Brown.

Hair style: Long hair falls down to her shoulders not kept in any style, though it is well brushed and very clean.

Eye color: Dark green

Skin tone/condition: Fair complexion unmarred by any sort of scar or deformity, she has kept her skin in surprisingly good condition despite years of martial training and diligent study under the senior members of her family.

Class: Part of what one might know as the 'nobility', Vanessa belongs to a house which lacks any real authority over Gaia and it's people, instead earning their place by the services they provide, namely slaying foul beasts.

-Attire/armor-

Upper body: True to her pampered upbringing Vanessa is often found clothed in high grade silk blouses of varying colors, most are white, though there is the occasional Black or Red corset to go along with it for more proper occasions. Frequently one would find her in a dress, though this is more of an issue when she goes out to things like parties or formal events with her family, and these are most often Red in color. For purposes of combat however she is protected by a well made scale coat, made in fact from the scales of an adult black dragon. This armor offers her exceptional protection from acidic and corrosive elements, as well as all the benefits of a scale coat. The armor is more resistant to piercing blows than chainmail and just as good at absorbing slashes from blades, though it shares the weakness of susceptibility to bludgeoning type attacks. It is a dull black in color, thanks largely in part to the majority of the scales being that from a dragon of the same color, and extends over her entire torso and her arms down to her elbows. On the inside of the armor can be seen the mark of the smith portion of her house, a dragon through which is driven a sword.

Torso/belt: Should she ever be found to wear a belt it would be one made of black leather, though this is rare aside from when she is training or fighting. Otherwise her clothes fit well enough to not need such an item. When wearing her belt one would always find the scabbard for her blade attached to it.

Legs: When not out in the field or at the training ground Vanessa can often be found wearing a silk skirt and stockings to match the blouse she would be wearing at the time. The color varies upon her other clothing, but common colors are red, black, white and any combination of these. Should she be in need of something a bit more versatile she favors the use of silk trousers, all of which are black. When in combat she wears an under-layer of padded leather pants, over which she wears a set of plated greaves. These are once again made solely for her, a symbol of her coming of age and acceptance of the family duty, and are marked with the same smith mark as her armor is. The plates cover her shins and her thighs in the front as well as along the sides when buckled on, though the backs of her legs are exposed. The metal is of a common but fine grade steel alloy.

Feet: Normally a pair of high heels in the same color as most everything else, black, she sometimes switches these out for a pair of white running shoes when mobility and comfort are more of an issue. Truthfully she hates fancy dress shoes, preferring her more casual footwear for the sole fact that it is vastly more comfortable. When in combat her feet are protected by a pair of plated boots, the same grade as the leggings she wears, forged by the same smith and made of the same steel. While they are hefty and limit mobility these is little more one could ask for in feet protection than these metal boots.

-Weaponry-

Primary weapon: Short spear: A five and a half foot long spear made from Whitewood with a steel tip, this is a typical weapon for someone who favors keeping an opponent out of reach. It goes extremely well with her shield, allowing her to strike while still keeping herself well defended and out of typical melee range. The wood and and steel are all unmarred, suggesting that this weapon was only recently made and has seen almost no combat. Plain yet effective, this is the weapon of choice for the young Da'Fluer.

Secondary weapon:Arming Sword: A three foot long double edged sword, this blade is a typical side item for anyone who uses a polearm, as there are times when you cannot keep the enemy at bay. It is also a status symbol, as every member of her house is given a similar blade when the accept their responsibilities. The hilt is wrapped in fine grade leather and on the crossguard there is the same symbol as on all her other combat effects, a small etching of a dragon through which is pierced a sword, and under that are her initials. The blade is sharp but it still remains a cut and thrust type of weapon, more suited to stabbing and hacking then to making graceful cuts. No nicks mark the blade, as it has only been removed from its ornate brass scabbard once.

Defensive armament:Round shield: A two and a half foot in diameter round shield forged from the same steel and nearly all her other equipment, this item is her primary methods of defending herself, alongside her quality crafted armor. It neatly fits over her left forearm and covers just enough to protect her torso if contracted to her chest. The straps on the back are made of strong brown leather and fit neatly on her arm. Across the freshly made face is the same symbol seen everywhere else, the crest of her family painted these in bright white paint, a stark contrast to the steel gray of the metal.

-Abilities-

:Innate:
Intelligence: Vanessa was afforded a quality education by both her family and local institutions, an is above your typical Gaian in terms of education. Her speech is fluid and fluent and her wit is sharp, allowing her to effectively analyze problems and offer solutions to issues.

Combat training: Vanessa has learned from a young age the art of fighting. She has picked her own style of combat and has stuck with it since she was a young girl. She knows her weaponry and she knows herself, and she is no amateur when it comes to wearing heavy armor or swinging a blade. However she has yet to face true combat where her life is on the line.

Blue blood: Vanessa grew up the daughter of the head of one of Gaia's many noble houses, and has such received proper training and experience in diplomacy and manners. She is polite, level headed and well behaved, and knows much about the politics of the land. Her ability to talk down many otherwise severe situations is a noted trait.

-Persona-
Vanessa is the daughter of nobility, and is expected to live up to the standards of her family and her position. She is polite and soft spoken, though she knows how to convey her point when the time comes. She is an excellent speaker despite her quiet nature, more so than any of her brothers or cousins. She has been pampered but never allowed to rest on her laurels, knowing that one day she too like the rest of her kin would take up the sword on behalf of the people of Gaia. This has lead to a gentle yet duty-bound personality, which manifests in her combat ability.

She prefers the finer things, such as fancy clothing and quality food, but has just as much respect for the everyday man as she does her noble cousins. She knows that some must toil to give her what she has now, but despite all this she would rather not give up her fine clothing and fancy lifestyle just because she had to make a sacrifice on the peoples behalf.

If possible she would rather solve issues with words, but if the time comes for armed combat she is no slouch. Clad in heavy armor and boasting a shield to match, Vanessa prefers to defend herself and her allies and wait for an opportunity to strike. She commands the battlefield with a soft voice and a fierce resolve, protecting and shielding weaker allies while attacking enemies when they are vulnerable.

-History-

24 years ago the current patron of the Da'Fluer family married his childhood love and sealed his position as the future head of the family. the night after they conceived their first child, a girl. she would be born some time later in the ward at Durem hospital, and she would be named Vanessa after her grandmother. This was the beginning of the most promising prospect of the Da'Fluer family in many many years.

Vanessa grew up the only daughter and the eldest child of Gregory and Evelyn Da'Fluer, the just instilled heads of the Da'Fluer family of Dragon slayers. Their family had won noble positions and the respect of the people of Gaia many centuries ago, when the first head of the family felled a great dragon that had terrorized the land. For years the family expanded a grew into a strong, proud and noble clan of men and women who devoted themselves and their lives to the defense of the people of Gaia. Over the years the family has faded somewhat into obscurity due to the lack of truly powerful monsters in the current day and age and due to the ever increasing number of adventurers and mercenaries who wander the land and do the job the Da'Fluer family once did. Still they are called on from time to time to deal with dire beasts and dangerous problems, and as such every member must still undergo training and education. Vanessa was no exception to this. What she was an exception to was the standard norm of fighters. From a young age she boasted great potential in many fields, varying from the classroom to the dance floor to the training ring. She far outstripped her later born brothers, who still today catch flak for being unable to best their sister in combat. She followed this routine for two decades, until her 20th birthday it was announced that her eldest brother would be the next head of the household, as per her fathers orders.

While she was widely superior to her brother in every regard the house had never had a female head before, and after much debate between the senior members it was decided that she should be allowed to receive her final rites of passage and be sent off to make her mark on the world. Should she return successful she would instead be instilled as the first matron of her house, a title she would gladly accept. So, on her 24th birthday she was gifted her armor, her blade, and the task to help the people of Gaia against the ever encroaching wild forces that still roamed the land. While allowed to return whenever she saw fit and with the backing of the family behind her, she would not be allowed to rise in rank until she came back bearing glory for the family name. So today she sets off in search of a way to prove herself not only to her family's expectations, but to herself as well.
