OMG I love The Vampire Diaries.... Very Bloody, But its cool. I like Damon more than I like Stefan even though Damon is evil. Its sorta like Twilight but different. Like Stefan drinks animal blood but Damon drinks human blood which makes Damon stronger.

Elena is a seventeen year-old girl who lives in Mystic Falls, Virginia, and is the main protagonist of the series. She is also the author of the titular Vampire Diaries, in which she records everything that happens to her. She is the adopted (though initially unaware) daughter of Grayson Gilbert and Miranda Sommers Gilbert, and has a younger brother, Jeremy. Prior to the start of the series, Elena's adopted parents were killed in a car crash, which Elena only survived because of Stefan's intervention. Since then, she has been coping with her parents' death, with her brother's addiction to drugs and her adopted aunt, and legal guardian, Jenna's attempts to take care of her and Jeremy.

When she meets Stefan Salvatore, she falls deeply in love with him, despite lingering mistrust. When she learns Stefan was in Mystic Falls in 1864, she confronts him and learns he is a century-old vampire. She initially decides she cannot be with Stefan, but will keep his secret. However, Elena can see that Stefan, though a vampire, is a generally good person. After an intense evening, in which Stefan kills another vampire to save Elena, she confesses that she still wants them to be together. She ultimately professes her love to him to keep him from leaving town, and the two begin sleeping together.

Elena is aware that Stefan's older brother Damon is in love with her, but keeps their relationship platonic. Over time, her relationship with Damon fluctuates, especially after he tried to kill Jeremy. As the series progresses, their relationship begins to heal, as he continues to look out for her safety, though she never truly returns his affection.

During the first season, Elena learns a good deal about her past. Her birth parents are her uncle, John Gilbert, and his high-school girlfriend Isobel Flemming. After Elena was born, Isobel married Alaric Saltzman, as well as asking Damon to turn her into a vampire (which he did). Elena also learns that she looks identical to a vampire named Katherine Pierce, an ex-girlfriend of both Salvatore brothers from the 1800s and their maker. Elena's resemblance to Katherine is not coincidental -- Katherine is an ancestor of Elena's through her mother, and Elena is her doppelganger. At the end of the first season, Katherine returns to Mystic Falls, and attempts to kill Elena's birth father.

In season 2, Elena's connection with Katherine continues to put her in serious danger. She breaks up with Stefan, in an unsuccessful attempt to protect her family and friends. As a human doppelganger (unlike Katherine, a vampire), Elena is sought after by several of the eldest vampires, including Klaus and Elijah, as part of a powerful spell. Elijah saves Elena from one of Klaus's abductions attempt, and reveals that he does not want to hurt Elena, but intends to use her to draw Klaus out of hiding and kill him. In exchange, he promises to keep Elena and her friends safe, and rescues Stefan from imprisonment with Katherine.



Stefan Salvatore

Stefan Salvatore is Damon's younger but cunningly strong vampire brother. Stefan is a century old vampire who was turned by Katherine Pierce in 1864, along with his older brother, Damon. Because of this, they share a mutual hatred of one another. Stefan is known to be the "good" vampire brother. He is portrayed to be kind, caring, affectionate and he shows concern for other people. However, he can be brooding and self-pitying, mostly due to him dealing with the fact that he is a vampire. Stefan refuses to survive on human blood and feeds on the blood of animals, since it is against his nature to do so. Returning to Mystic Falls, he discovers Elena Gilbert, a girl who is the spitting image of his former lover from the 1800's, Katherine Pierce. Before he meets Elena, he watches over her to make sure that she is safe and that she is nothing like Katherine. Over time, he takes an interest in her. He soon discovers while she may look like Katherine physically, she is nothing like her and he falls in love with her. He eventually reveals that he had saved her life from the car accident which had killed her parents. Stefan survives mainly on animal blood, but began to crave human blood when Elena fed him some of hers in order to save his life and give him the power to fight another dangerous vampire. Elena and Damon stage an intervention when he attacks one of the Miss Mystic Falls participants, Amber Bradley, and they both lock him in the basement dungeon, where he confesses to Elena that he should never have fed on human blood in the first place in order to complete his transition into a vampire. However, despite his brief addiction, he is soon cured and returns back to normal.

In season two, he discovers that Katherine is back in Mystic Falls and she declares that she came back to Mystic Falls for him. Much to Katherine's dismay, Stefan does not return her affection, and instead says he hates her. After Katherine turns Caroline into a vampire, Stefan and Caroline develop a friendship and Stefan teaches her how to control her blood lust and to not feed on other humans. It is assumed that Stefan will take Caroline under his wing and teach her his ways of feeding on animals instead of humans. It was also revealed that Stefan was the brother whom Katherine was in love with. Stefan jumps into a well to try and find the moonstone Mason hides,but doesn't realize the water is full of vervain and he can't move and his face and body start to burn and Elena comes down to help him. After a dangerous situation in which Jenna, Elena's aunt, stabs herself after being compelled by Katherine, Stefan and Elena realize that it was a mistake not listening to Katherine and allowing themselves to challenge her, and decide to break up, despite their affection and deep love for each other. In episode 7, after finally getting rid of Katherine, Stefan tries to get back with Elena, but she refuses and decides to wait until she makes sure that she and her loved ones are safe first. When Elena is kidnapped, Stefan and Damon have to rescue Elena who is being held by some two vampires called Trevor and Rose. When Stefan finds Elena, he and Damon work together to bring down another vampire called Elijah. In the tenth episode he goes into the cave to save Jeremy from Katherine. He gets stuck in the tomb with Katherine because Bonnie Bennett is unable to release the spell over it. But then in episode 11, Elijah tells him that the spell is released and that he is free to go. He then appears at Elena's house and the two have a passionate kiss and get back together.

Damon Salvatore

Damon Salvatore is Stefan Salvatore's older, stronger and malevolent vampire brother. When he was still human, he fell in love with Katherine Pierce, an evil vampire who seduced both him and his brother Stefan in 1864. When they try to protect her from the villagers, they are killed by their own father. Because she fed them her blood, they turn into vampires, but is it only when Stefan feeds him again that Damon transformation is complete. He cannot forgive his brother for not letting him die. He is portrayed as a charming but yet evil being. In the beginning of the first season, he tricks humans and takes pleasure in feeding on and killing them. He uses Elena's friend Caroline to feed on, and is almost killed when Stefan poisons her blood with vervain. He kills Stefan's football coach Tanner, his oldest friend Lexi, and their 21st century descendant Zach. Later in the season it is revealed that he came back to Mystic Falls to release Katherine from a cursed tomb where she was condemned to die by the villagers in 1864, but discovers that she must have escaped it before. Despite his evil manner, he develops an affection for Elena that reminds him that there is something kind in him. It is shown several times throughout the season that Damon can be capable of caring for others (He rescues Elena from a car wreck, helps Stefan escape from torture, and teams up with Stefan, Bonnie, and Elena to protect Mystic Falls.)

In season two, Katherine reappears and tells Damon that she never loved him but always Stefan. Upset and rejected, Damon visits Elena in her room. He tells Elena that he strongly believes that she loves him and then kisses her. Elena insists that she loves Stefan, and that it will always be Stefan, repeating almost exactly what Katherine had said. Damon snaps and attacks her younger brother. He only survives because he wore a magic ring, like the one Alaric wears, that will bring the person who wears the ring back to life. Elena is upset with Damon that she tells him their friendship is over. Yet, she later saves his life when Bonnie takes her anger out on Damon because she discovers that his blood turned Caroline to a vampire, and Caroline, being only days old, loses control and kills an innocent bystander, thus breaking the promise that "no one else would get hurt". In "Bad Moon Rising" Damon tells Elena that he did not see Jeremy's ring when he attempted to kill him. This results in Elena declaring that Damon has lost her forever and their friendship cannot be mended. Damon becomes upset that she used him to get information on Katherine's past and he says that Elena and Katherine have a lot more in common than just their looks. In episode 5, after helping Sheriff Forbes, Elena tells Damon "that was the Damon that was my friend." In episode 6, he claimed that he was at fault for Stefan and Elena's breakup.

After saving Elena with Stefan in episode 8 of season 2, Damon shows up in Elena's room with the vervain necklace that was ripped from her neck earlier in the episode. Before he gives it back he tells Elena that he is in love with her and because he is in love with her, he cannot be selfish with her. He kisses her forehead and says he wishes she could remember this. As the camera shows a close up of Damon's eye as he is compelling Elena to forget, a tear slips. Elena blinks and her vervain necklace is back around her neck, Damon is gone and her window is open with the curtains blowing. She has no recollection as to how the necklace was returned to her. In "Katerina" Damon joins Rose to find the originals; after some time and clever banter the two have sex. In "By the Light of the Moon," Damon teams up with Alaric to spy on Jules, a friend of Mason's who comes to Mystic Falls to find him. They try to poison her with wolfsbane (in case if she's a werewolf) but don't succeed and Jules tells Damon he's "marked." Later, he goes to his house to find Rose. They're attacked by Jules in her werewolf form, who then bites Rose and is stabbed with a sword by Damon, but then runs away. Damon and Rose believe the biting of a werewolf to a vampire is mythical since Rose didn't die from the bite, and Damon reveals he was happy when Rose wasn't killed. They share an intimate kiss and when Damon rubs on her shoulder, she winces. They see that the wound is now infected and they look at each other with shocked expressions.
