OK HERE IS LYS' GUIDE TO ABUSING GAIA FOR OC/RP PURPOSES

MINI SHOPS
if you need something like thread coding, signs, profile codes, graphics, art, adoptables, stuff like that, people will offer services here for gold, or you can try making your own shop. i can elaborate on this if you wanna make one, but it's pretty useful. but tbh if you want a pretty thread layout just ask me because i can make you one. the subforums here that you want to remember are:

pricing & suggestions: exactly what it says on the can. if you're offering stuff to sell on gaia.

art shops: this is where you buy/sell art. u may be interested in this place for oc art but you will need gold for it, which u can always try to accumulate but it's. pretty hard unless you buy items from the cash shop. BUT it's a good place to find artists you like and kinda tab them for later in case it's your bday and someone's looking for a gift, bc most of these people also do real life cash commissions

art freebies: THIS IS THE IMPORTANT ONE THIS IS WHERE YOU GET FREE ART. ppl post stuff like HEY I NEED TO DRAW SOMETHING WITH MY NEW TABLET SEND ME UR OCS and if you're lucky ppl will draw them. you can also put a thread asking for art with your oc descriptions and such.

things to remember: [T] = trade | [R] = request | [F] = free | [O] = open/offer | [C] = closed/complete
you're gonna look for the ones with F or O for free art

art requests: this is mostly for ppl looking for art and have money, but u can keep it noted just in case

breedable and changeable pets: i know this doesn't look rp related but ACTUALLY a lot of these shops are rp-based. you'll have to look into it a little, but some of them let you purchase a design, which allows you to roleplay in the universe created for the shop. it's rly cool


BARTON TOWN (ROLEPLAY)
this is where you rp if you wanna rp. there's a lot of different skill levels in there so you can probably find someone you're comfortable with. among the more intimidating (or just BAD) people are the ones who write 1000-2000+ words a post but like i said, ppl have a lot of different preferences so all you need to do is look around. here's the important subforums:

barton ooc: ooc subforum where you search for people to rp with basically, or discuss s**t

roleplay recruiting: also there for searching for rpers, has more group rps that are looking for ppl to join

invitation only rps: what it says on the can. if you find a partner you can stick your rp thread in here

you can also use the other subforums but i think they're kinda redundant tbh

WRITER`S FORUM
a place for discussing writing. these people are older and pretty serious so if you want to get ripped to shreds, this is where 2 go. they will not hold back

TEST FORUM
for testing graphics and thread layouts or other things. people like putting useful things here like schedules, notes, etc, writing samples. if you look you can see a lot of WIP group roleplays under construction
