Disclaimer; I sometimes get confused and am slightly ignorant of some of the information and guidlines for the various definitions of Rock (industrial, alternative...etc) so if I say something ridiculously wrong in this and you find it offenseive I apologize.

So I was in the music store the other day checking out Cd's and for fun I scrolled to Dropkick Murphy's on the preveiwing machine. I noticed it was labeled as "Punk Revival" this perplexed me...because I was under the impression that they were and always had been...Irish themed punk, the idea that they were a revival confused me because Punk is still alive and well in quite a few bands, and then it hit me.

Due to the huge surge in the last few years of Pop-punk becoming more widely and commonly referred to as what is 'hard rock' has skewed the lines of what we once hailed as true punk. Sissy boy male leads who purposely strive to appeal to virgining sub-cultures like Emo such as the lead singer of *cough green day* have become the new metal that parents get worried about when their kids are listening to it.

But does that mean that gone are the days of Dropkick Murphy's, Sex Pistols, etc? Are they no longer the one true punk? I dont think theyre gone, I think people just need to stop giving sissy's credit.

Final statement: I hate ******** little emo bands and pop-punk pieces of s**t who water down rock and roll for the purposes of getting the dollars of a few depressed children who will leave their concerts early to go cut themselves. ROCK is not touchy feely emotional stuff...the song 'Sex and Violence' is a good example, nuff said. I give mad respect to Alternative Rock for doing their own thing without actively trying to steal the 'hard' away from the hard rock that actually deserves it.
