A long, long, time ago - I was an anime obsessed young adult that spent his free time roleplaying in the Gaia Commerce forums. It's how I got introduced to Naruto, actually. I ended up being part of this thread called "The Ninja Rave", which was very focused on the combat aspect of text-based roleplay. I was never particularly good at it. In fact, I've probably lost every single RP match I participated in. Oh well, never stopped me from trying. Winning became less important to me than simply creating an interesting combat system. Enter, Prunelle!: My last/current RPC. Prunelle was built around two simple concepts: quick-casting and trapping my opponent. I guess at some point I must have gotten tired of drawn-out RP battles, and I asked myself "What's the point of a flash finishing move if there's a chance it can miss?". So I created this "cheat code" of a character that fires spells in the form of bullets and has a danger sense. Because each spell starts out as a bullet, you can't know what the spell is until it hits you. And if/once it hits you, chances are it's something to hold you in place so Pru could just off you with the next spell. Of course, in real time, most of my RP fights never actually worked out like that. Besides, it got kind of boring doing fights when every post I made eventually read like "Pru pulls the trigger, BANG!" X.X But to date, Pru was my most in-depth character. And even though her fighting style bores the hell out of me, I loved coming up with new weapons and spells for her (although, looking back at some of them, I really have to wonder what the hell I was thinking). So I'm gonna revamp my character. And actually, the more I think on it, I'll probably redo a handful of characters I had back in the day.
Prior to Prunelle, the Dazzling Witch!, there was Quinn the [Baby] Succubus (x.x Probably one of the more ******** up ideas I had, honestly). She's a 4-year old demon with the body of a teenage girl. I'm not sure what inspired this crazy, borderline-loli fantasy, but I kept things tame by giving her a child-like innocence and a power set based on Playing Pretend - which essentially meant she could change 'classes' mid-fight (in fact, Prunelle sort of grew from the ideas I had to give Quinn a "gun mage" class). And then there's Charisma Darling, aka "Rizzy Demonbane", a psychic mercenary that uses Devil Arms to slay demons. Honestly, she was just a female version of Dante from Devil May Cry, inspired both by that game and my obsession with the many weapon items you could find on Gaia. Not sure what I'd do with that character just yet, but the whole Devil May Cry genderswap is probably going to go out of the window. I once planned to give Prunelle a rival that used a harpoon gun and mid-range weapons, so I'll probably just take the Devil Arm aspect and apply it to this rival character and that can be Rizzy's spiritual successor. Last but not least, there's Fern. Despite the name, Fern is a boy, and he's one of my first RPCs. I did a lot of stuff with Fern, but what was probably his last form was a "mandragora" - a magical creature that essentially equated to a "plant man". The last incarnation of Fern was basically an Earth elemental, complete with grass for hair. His power set basically meant he was an earth bender. I'll probably give him sound-based attacks when I reboot him for the billionth time.
So yeah, get ready for the upcoming World of Whorcery! Next journal entry will probably be about Prunelle's (2025) new backstory and motivations. Y'know, assuming I don't get lazy and decide not to do any of this.
