My rules for the marketplace
Alright, folks. I've received many complaints about the way I conduct myself in the marketplace. What I tend to do is to hover around the auctions that are ending within about 1-2 minutes, then buy what I think is affordable. What am I looking for, exactly? Well... the first thing I'd like to comment is that the sellers should learn to raise the starting bid to something that's more acceptable, but I'll get to that later.

Alright... sooo... I've got a few items on my hit-list. This includes G-Bots, any kitty plushies, the laptop, or anything that normally goes for a price of above 10,000 gold. Finally, I will seek any item that goes for less than 50% its store price, and a few items that I can resell for significantly more than what I pay for it.

I know, what I'm doing may seem rather mean. I should be offering a decent amount of gold for the items I pay, right? Well... here goes for an explination. If it's a store-bought item, I'll generally look out for items that I might be interested in trying out. I bought a wraith cloak for either 50% store price or less, because I wasn't sure if I was going to like it. It turns out that it wasn't what I was looking for, so I searched for auctions for that item, and sold it for something like 75-90% store price. Not only do I get to try the item on, but if I don't like it... I'll make a few bucks off it. As for other things... yes, I intend to make a profit off the marketplace, as it's my strongest method of making my way to the prize - one human G-CORP labcoat. I bought the S-Corp one for cheap, back when I had nothing more to offer. Unfortunately, it's not a very good labcoat, as far as labcoats go. It doesn't completely cover my character's shirt, whereas the G-CORP one does. Anyways, the items I buy either work well with my avatar, or help me to achieve loftier goals.

Anyways, I'm just rambing. Now you know what I'm trying to buy. The fact is that it pains me to see auctions go for such low prices. I often think that if the sellers would do about 10 seconds of research, that they'd be able to get alot more for it. Unfortunately, when the time is so short, someone's bound to buy it for even less than what I'd pay. I'll jump in, bid something, and usually win. If I don't like it, then I'll resell it. Now, what if the original seller wants to make more money off of it? Simple: Please raise your start bid before you set up the auction. If you don't do this, then I'm going to be watching out for your auction. I will not hesitate to buy a Kiki Kitty Plushie for 2g, if the opportunity should ever arise. That being said, however, I'd try to be alittle fair in special circumstances. I'd probably offer all my gold (even if it's something much lower than the average price, like 20,000 gold) because I know that I won't get another opportunity for such a thing if I sit around and wait for it.

For the sellers who go on and sell their things for such insanely low prices, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I do keep some of the items I purchase. Other items have helped me get some more difficult items, without having to resort to asking for donations. I'm looking at my avatar now, and I can finally say that it's pretty cool looking. Now... if you feel cheated by me, then please politely send me a private message, requesting arrangements to be made. If it's a store-bought item, and if I still have it, I'll generally offer to kick in whatever it takes to bring it up to 50% its store price, so you would be getting exactly what you would get if you sold it back to the store. I would also be willing to reverse the trade. If it's not available in the stores, then I'd be willing to negotiate a higher price, but within reason.

On a final note, would someone like to give me a Kiki Kitty Plushie? No? Oh well... it couldn't hurt to ask.

P.S. I've noticed that a few people set their auctions to end in five minutes, then cancel it if they don't get the price they want. I cannot express how rude this is. It makes it very difficult for me to get ANYTHING on the marketplace, and that includes buying things at fair prices. Show us some common courtesy and actually tell us what price you would like for your item. If you don't, then at least show us the courtesy of leaving your item up to its completion. If you can't use the minimum bid function properly, then you should honestly take whatever price you get - it's all you deserve.
