Welcome to My Life
A mixture of random stuff, stuff that happened to me, stories I write, and much much more. Some may be boreing while others are so cool it's scary. Take a peek if you have the time.
If only it could happen all over again...
Dead asleep on the couch and it was only midnight. Her blonde hair fell over her round face, as if to cover her swollen eyes and pink puffy cheeks. She was in her pajama's and the ice cream she had been eating, strawberry of course, sat on the coffee table... Melting away. A wine bottle half way full of scarlet red wine sat next to the melting ice cream. Her left arm lay on her tiny stomach and her right hung off the couch, her painted fingers grasped around the thin glass part of an empty wine glass. Her legs were scrunched up so her body could fit on the black leather love seat. A purple blanket was thrown over her torso and ruffled up at her legs. A small old fluffy dog layed, asleep, next to her left arm and a bigger dog with madded brown hair lay on the floor next to the love seat starring at the wall almost as if in thought. The lights were all off, the only sorce of light came from the average sized TV against the wall.
It was playing old recorded tapes of happier times, mostly all were shot in the summer. Two children and their mother played in the living room of an old home, one that ment so much to the girl on the couch but most likly had been ripped down. The two children were related, a girl and a boy. The girl was the oldest and had short blonde hair and blue eyes. Her brother had long dark hair and blue eyes as well. The mother in the films was the two children's mother. She had blonde hair like the girl's and blue eyes like both of her children. She was loving and caring and had never ever thought of hurting her two young children... Who knew it would be one of her children that would hurt her.
Soon the tape clicked off to a scrambleing sound. The bigger of the two dogs sat up and barked at the scrambleing tv, as if it were a robber trying to get his beloved owner. The girl sat up and hushed the bigger dog. She set the wine glass down on the coffee table and wipped the extra tears from her eyes. She pushed the older dog off her stomach and took off the blanket. She tiredly walked to the tv and turned it off. Wipping the last of her tears away she turned to the two dogs, who now sat staring at her. She felt like crying even more but decided that it would only hurt more if she did. She felt around in the darkness for the light switch. Finding it, she clicked it on and picked up the phone and listened to the messages, many from her worried friends... All saying that the would be there when she needed them, and that was true. The final of the messages was from the police saying that her brother was now in Juvinial Detention and would be there until he was twenty one. She was twenty- two now... Her brother had just reached fifteen. She set down the phone and placed her hand on the wall as more tears fell from her eyes. Her blue eyes fell on the picture that was framed up on the wall. A mother, a boy, a girl... It seemed like they had it all. Too bad that Tommy and Erika had no father, maybe Tommy would've grown up as a better person... Maybe he wouldn't rob houses or shoot up the local shopping stores. Maybe Erika wouldn't have become a drunk in times of depression, maybe she wouldn't be so paranoid she had to sleep with a gun and have two dogs, maybe even she could get the guts to fight for her three year old daughter again. And the mom... Well she would still be alive... Her eyes would still be bright, and she would call everynight... Like she always did... Or used to that is.
In the newspapers it said that she was killed by a shot to the held from her youngest child, Tommy John McCaulahan. It said he fifteen-year-old son was deranged and suicidal... It also said that he was drinking as well. All were lies. Tommy wasn't deranged, just confused. He wasn't suicidal, he just didn't want to be around anymore. He had never touched an adult drink, however, he did do drugs. He didn't kill the two children's mother.. His anger, his fright, his sadness, and his confusion had done the job. He took all responsiblity and even called Erika the night he had done it, saying how sorry he was and that he only wished that he could have gone back in time and thrown the gun out the window when he had the chance. He had not come home from highschool with the intention of killing his mother, he had come home and was going to prepare a meal for her birthday but... His drugs had gotten in the way. He didn't know what he was doing until he woke up and was arrested by the the local cops.
Erika had learned about it from her brother, he told the truth and never lied he just only wished that he could've died right next to their mother. He was messed up... That was for sure... But not as much as his big sister. She had cried all night with her red wine and ice cream, watching old tapes of a happier time. She ignored all phone calls and then passed out. Leaving her dogs to run about. She was sad, it was as simple as that. Erika's life had come to a screeching hault. She did not hate her brother for what he had done. She did not hate her mother for not holding on. She did not hate her father, for sure this is true, she only wished that he had stayed too. She blamed the government for making her brother feel he had to rebel. She hated drugs for making him kill, she hated the truth right now... It was good but it seemed to bring so much pain. She wished that for once in her life when her brother did something wrong that he would lie to her... So she did not have to feel the pain inside.
The lights went out again and pushed in another tape. She poured herself more red wine and pulled herself under her purple blanket before pushing 'Play'. Tears streaked down her face as she watched her mother smile at the small new-born baby boy in her arms and then at the little girl sitting beside her. What a lovly day that had been, full of joy, pain, love, and sadness. If only it could happen all over again.
