Here's what I posted on http://www.marzgurlproductions.com
"1/29/2005 Dear MarzGurl Productions viewers and fans, I was hoping that my next update would be a far happier one than this, but unfortunately it is not. I regret to inform all of you that the laptop with the Ushicon 2005 production footage is out of commission. Allow me to give you the details. This laptop is only just over six months old. It is a fine working computer, a Dell Inspiron 5150, and has given me very few problems. However, every so often, when the AC pwoer cord was plugged into the computer, the laptop would not register the charge from the adaptor. Sometimes I would have to fiddle around with the cord near the port, and then the electricity would start running to it again. As of late, however, the laptop has been doing this to me more and more, and it would take more than just simple fiddling with the cord to bring the power back to the laptop and allow the battery to charge. It would take extraordinary amounts of pressure on the cord at the port to get it to register the input, and it got to a point where I was either tightly wrapping my cord around my laptop to get it to work or laying my laptop in awkward positions on top of the cord. I started having to lay it down on the surface it was sitting on in such a way that the monitor was sitting down with the keyboard up in the air - the complete reverse of how a laptop should sit. After one night of this, the power input finally failed, and I was fully running on battery power, unable to recharge it. I checked Dell's web site for any information I could find on this, and found myself at the Dell Customer Service forums, where it would appear that I was not the only person to experiance this problem. Many people have complained that the power input cord was often times loose in the jack to the computer and that they would have to fiddle around with the cord in order to get it to charge. Dell's explanation was that the user should stop moving the laptop around, and that if the problem persisted they should try another power cord, and if the power persisted even further then it has to do with the port on the computer and the entire motherboard would then have to be replaced. I was shocked to hear that there was a chance that I might have to replace my entire motherboard. I had my father test my AC adaptor and cord. And as I guessed, the cord was just fine, and the electricity was still running through it normally. This meant that it was the port on the computer. Aparently, Dell states that the entire motherboard has to be replaced because that power input port has been completely saughtered onto the motherboard itself (quite the irritating design on Dell's part). Luckily, I am still under a year-long warranty under Dell, so I will be forced to send my laptop off to be repaired. What does this now mean for you? It means that it could take up to two weeks for me to get the laptop returned to me, therefor making it nearly impossible to work on Ushicon 2005 footage. I have the possiblity of being able to uploading this footage to the PC that I am currently using, but this PC is a last resort measure that I really do not want to take. This is not the first technical problem that MarzGurl Productions has had after we returned from Ushicon. Shaun has had some problems of his own with his footage being completely lost on the computer he was using and he is now having to completely re-upload all footage all over again. This has been our most stressful project yet. We heavily apologize for this inconvenience and for making you wait for this Ushicon 2005 video. I most certainly am not happy about this situation, and I was excited about being able to work on this project. We have never filmed as much material as we did at this past convention, and I wanted to be able to share it with all of you as soon as possible. Please, if you can, be patient with us... and pray that my laptop comes back safely! I promise you, it will be worth your wait. If you have any questions, or if you would like to be e-mailed with any updates, please e-mail me at marzgurl@marzgurlproductions.com and I would be happy to make a personal reply to anything you might have to say. P.S. - I will forever be wary of Dell. Sony will be my next buy. That company has never steered me wrong before. -MarzGurl"
