“Will the fallowing students please come down to the office?” I lifted my eyes
from my paper I had been working on and looked up at the intercom at the front of
the class and blinked a few times waiting to hear the names read off as the office
aid shuffled papers around and read over the names once so she would not mess
up on pronouncing them. I shook my head lightly and smiled as my gaze fell back
to my paper, I hadn’t really been working on it mostly just doodling on the edges
of the paper waiting for the last thirty minutes of class to be over so I could go
hand out with my friends at lunch.
“Mackenzie Patterson, Josh Cook, Nicolas…..” She paused a moment again
and I looked up from my doodling once more to look up at the intercom and
snicker as I glanced back and looked at Nick who was sitting the back corner desk
of the class. He rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“My last name isn’t that hard to say…” he muttered angrily and shook his head as
he started to pack up his things so he would go to the office since every one knew
it was him she was trying to say.
“~~~~~ ” she finally said Nicks name and he sighed and stood, shouldering
his back pack, he noticed me looking at him and gave a wave good bye, I only
returned the wave and looked back to the paper still doodling as I kept listening to
the old female voice over the speakers still talking.
“Jennet Milner, Serina…” I looked up instantly at my first name being called,
for all I knew I was the only Serina in school but I listened intently for the last
name of this person,
‘I never get called to the office….what did I do?’ My mind was racing now, thoughts
pouring from me as I looked up once more waiting, I felt like I was going to have a
heart attack it seemed the aid was taking so long to say it.
“Lengston...” I almost fell over in my desk and I could have sworn everyone
had turned to look at me since my name had not once been called over the
intercom to go to the office, I mean it had been called before but not like this, and
I didn’t think much of it since Nick was always being called down. Even though I
was panicking I stood up and put my papers and school things in my back pack
and departed from class, now I knew everyone was looking at me, watching me
leave, I swore I could hear there whispers about me. As I walked down the
seemingly endless hall to the office I listened still to the last four names called out.
“Autumn Twilight…”
“Her parents must have been tree huggers.” I mumbled to myself as a smile crept
across my face from my own statement then shook my head seeing a girl with
short black hair and black clothes come out from a class room in front of me.
“Probably skipping class.” I muttered to myself once more then fell silent as my
tennis shoes squeaked against the tile floors of the halls while I walked.
“Benjamin Hollings, Sky Wilson, and Nikki Murano.Please come down to the
office.” And with that the speakers shut off and all was silent again no hum of
the PA system over head, I sighed and closed my eyes a little and shook my head
trying to figure out why I was being summoned, as my brother would say, to the
office. I had been so wrapped up in my thoughts I had not even realized my feet
had brought me all the way to the office without really having thought about it, as I
walked in I stopped short and counted the heads mentally.
‘Seven, eight, and nine counting me.’ I gave a smile since I had been the last one
in and some smiled back a few shook there heads and rolled there eyes, everyone
seemed to be from a different group. I opened my mouth to say something but
was caught off guard by a sudden attachment at the side; I looked over and found
Nick hugging me tightly a smile on his face.
“Oh Rini you have finally come to the dark side with me... I’m so proud of you!” I
fended him off and patted him on the chest while I held my shirt trying to catch my
breath then punched him in the shoulder and playfully glared at him.
“Trying to kill me now Nick….I see how it is...” I smiled and stuck my tongue out at
him only to get the same thing from him, he was the only one of the group I really
knew, I mean I am sure I had had classed with the others but… I don’t think I ever
talked to a one of them. Nick started to talk and I just tuned it out as I looked at
every one there. There was a boy with glasses sitting in a chair by the desk, he
had a small frame but looked intelligent…so I guessed he must be Benjamin since it
kind of sounded like a nerdy kid name. I was having a hard time placing who might
be Autumn so I just guessed it was one of the gaggling girls in the corner with long
blond hair and big blue eyes, one all the boys but the one I thought to be Benjamin
were ogling her and the other girl who I had to assume was Jennet and that left the
black haired girl who kind of gave me the chills to be Nikki. Everyone was
muttering so I just said what I knew they all were thinking, even Nick.
“So do any of you guys know why we were all called down here?” I asked to them
all and everyone immediately stopped talking and looked at him I backed up
slightly getting so many stares, I was damn glad Nick was there he was always
there for me. But I was always there for him so it didn’t matter even if he had
already had a bunch of girl friends and had kissed when I am still VL ((Virgin lips)).
One of the boys this one with long hair, it covered his eyes a little as he spoke up,
his clothes torn in various places and he had a skate board in hand, though I had
met him once before and knew him as Sky.
“Yea what are we doing here…if my mom finds out I was sent to the office again I
am going to be in deep… ” He was cut off by a women in a white coat that came
over smiling at us.
“No you’re not in trouble Sky.” She said sweetly, almost to sweetly for my taste.
“Now if all of you will fallow me we need to get all of you ready.” She was pale real
pale and he eyes were an eyes blue color and her hair was real light in color
almost white even though she only looked to be in maybe her early thirty’s. I
looked at everyone else and they seemed swayed by her, and that fact that the
boys were now drooling over her instead of a girl there own age. The women
walked over to the door to leave the office then stopped and looked at us all again
with her smile, that was getting on my nerves.
“Oh and before we go you all must know each others names.” She pretty much
blocked the exit and waited for us to confess our names to each other.
((And that is about as much as I got done in an hour school))
