Where I live
A little write-up for Vampire: The Requiem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

History of Sheppton

I live in a little ex-mining town in North-Eastern PA called Sheppton. There's about 200 people here, that all live in houses spiraling off the highway. Apparently it was a nice place back before the "Sheppton Mine Disaster". The coal mine was the town's lifeblood, back then there were movie theaters and everything. After the mine collapsed and left only six of the miners alive, everything dryed up. I often ask myself why people still live here. All the buisnesses are dead and everyone has to drive to their jobs now. The kids hate it because there's nothing here. I think the reason is capitialism. Here's where they throw all the low income dregs who can't afford the valley or don't want to risk their necks in Hazleton. Still, the houses are nice for their price if you don't mind having to drive everywhere.

Locations

Like I said, houses spiderweb off the main highway. I'd say the three spots with the most interest are the Gas Sation, the Ice Cream Shop/Post Office and the Woods.

The Gas Station is important because without it people couldn't live here. Like I said, there's nothing here, you need to drive to get anything, even food.

The Ice Cream Shop is important for the same reason but a slightly different take. It's the only place within 20 miles that serves food. It's only been open for about three years but it's become a busy social hub. I've been trying to get a job there for a while, but my little sister got it instead. I should be pestering the manager there instead of writting this razz .

Before the Ice Cream Shop, was the Pizza Shop. It was a nice little establishment run by my sister's friend's parents. I loved their pizza but they went out of buisness. They were on the other corner of my block, next to Erven's Bar. Erven's is an odd place with indoor horseshoe's games. My mom is friends with the owner but never seems to go there. The Pizza Place was bought out by the Bar when it closed.

Before the Ice Cream Shop was, Gypsie's Restraunt but god, that's got to be about nine years now. It was a quiant little place with an old world style. Apparently they did tarrot and psychic readings too. I probably would of hung out there a lot if it was still around. It was torn down a while ago and replaced by a small Car Dealership. I still don't get why anyone would want to set up a car dealership here. It was located next to the gas-station.

The woods are where you go when you don't want to be found. Or at least that's what my dog says. He ran off with a pack of deer not too long ago and was lured back by meatballs. Lots of people like to quad around here, that's where they do it. There's also rumors of drug manufactors. The forest and I are a kidred spirit, especial now that it's winter and all the trees claw-like skelatons of their former self.

Exits

The Highway bisects the town. If you continue to go Northeast, you'll go to Mahanoy City. That was a nice town once and it's where I grew up, but during the 80s it became a haven for hippies and yuppies and now it's decayed into a haven for white trash. I haven't been there in years.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you go Southwest, you'll reach Hazleton. It's the hub of all the small mining towns in the area, always has been. It was one of those 'nice towns' in the 1920s but when prohibition hit, the Mafia came in. A lot of people consider them to be the best thing to ever happen to the town. It seems like it was pretty nice when they were still here. Hazleton is smack dab in the middle of New York, Phillidelphia and Bosten, so it's an exelent place to trade goods(wether they be legal or not.) Unforudently, once Prohibition was repelled, the Mafia sort of dryed up. The only sign that they were ever here is a large ethnicity of itailians and a lot of pizza places. People still say that there are a lot of secret hiding placed if you know where to look for them

Unofrutdently, the place is still a good hub which means it attracts a lot of drug dealers. Worse yet, the town no longer has Mafia protection. People say that the mob kept the unwanted out. Back then it was blacks, now it's Hispanics. We're not racist here but you have to see some these idiots to believe them. My take on is that most of them are Cubans and Domnicans. Back in the 80s Cuba and DR cleared out their prisons and shipped the prisoners here. They hit Miami first. A lot of them seemed to gravitate to New York. Then when they got of the City Life, they moved to suburbs like Hazleton. Now half the city is barrios.

I don't spend much time in Hazleton if I have a choice. The only thing worht going for is the Mall. It's where the Mall Goths hang out. Some of them are my friends, although I'm socially neutral. If I'm at the mall, it;s usually to see something at the Movie Theater. I'm a big movie buff.

The only other thing I can think to talk about in Hazleton is the School. Although, if I was any sort of supernatural, I'd never go back there again. Of course, all the kids go there though. In Vampire, I think most of the student there would be Ghuls(the semi-mindless slave of Vampires). Although, if I ever become a Vampires, it would be fun hunting ground domokun Not to mention I could see Mage Covens sparking up there.

The Social Groups are split up a little. You have the Preps of course. They aren't so goody goody though, they're mostly the rich kids with too much time on their hands. They Dress Fancyand in Bright Colors(American Eagle, Holester) and get in a lot of trouble. My sister could be considered one, which putts me on deccent standing with some of them.

Then you have the Stoners. The poor victems of this misserable place that turn to things like weed to solve their problems. I think I'm a Stoner that never turned to drugs. They're my favorite kind of people to hang out with. My closest Friend Trevor could be considered one. They tend to wear a lot of brown and some dress reminicant of Bob Marley Groupies.

There's the Goths, small but distinct. They tend to dress in black and think a little different from most people. I consider Goth to be analogy. "You are to popular culture what the Goths were to Rome." I fall under that, sorta.

When I hear 'Goth', I think of Heather. She was my friend from Creative Writting Freshman year that always wore these Black Medevial style dresses. She's one of the people responsible for getting me into Vegitarianism and the Straight Edge Movement. Her favorite movies, play and...well, everything else was Phantom of the Opera. She's still around but we've fell out of touch. She's seeing Jason, this nice (ex-) stoner kid from Valley(the same Junior school I went to). He's started wearing those stripped arm things since he's started dating her razz

I guess Tara counts as a Goth too. She seems like it as she seems nice. I knew her from my history class and some local shows. I see her at lunch now. I don't know much about her though, Tony set up the table and then mysteriously left...

Then there's the Geeks and Otaku, another obvious. They stick together, listen to some indie music, a lot of them write. I guess I fall into that catagory by that definition but I try to keep that a hidden fact razz Kayla comes to mind when I think of this group. She has facination with bears.
