"New York?!" Nala managed to say after a minute
"It will be an adventure!" Her mother said "You'll love it" her mother said, and began walking foward to give Nala a hug
"No I won't! I love it here!" She said, stepping back. "I don't want to leave... what about dad?" she said, her eyes sadening
"Nala. It's been five years. He-" she began, but Nala cut her off
"He said he'd come back for us! He wouldn't just leave!" Nala yelled.
"Nala, I'm sorry, but it's time to move on" Her mother said, as tears swelled in Nala's eyes. "In New York we can start over. You can meet some friends, go to a proper school--"
"If you're so excited about New York, you go and leave me here!" She yelled before she ran off. Her mother called something to her, but she didn't hear. She ran out of the town, past he wolf cave, farther than she'd ever gone before. She ran and ran until she fell from exhaustion and cried until she had no tears left. When she got up, the sun was setting fast and the darkness was all around her. She hugged her knees close to her body and shivered in the cold.
"Dad..." she said to herself, fresh tears in her eyes as she looked up into the sky "Where are you?" Snap.
Nala whipped around when she heard the twig snap. She looked into the shadow and saw a pair of soft blue eyes staring at her sadley.
She smiled weakly and wipped the tears form her eyes "Hey Neiges" she said to the wolf.
Neiges walked out of the trees and up to Nala, giving her a lick on the nose. Nala reached up and pet Neiges. They stayed like this for a while, until Neiges nosed Nala up and looked up at her, then began to walk in the direction Nala had run from. Nala followed, to sleepy and upset to object. They walked for at least fifteen minutes, and then the scenery became familiar.
After another five minutes, Nala could just barely see the outline of the Wolf Cave in the dark. Neiges led Nala into the cave. Timber got up and padded over, looking at Nala curiously. He and Neiges then led her to where all the wolves were lying together to sleep. They lay down and Nala curled up next to them. It didn't take long for Nala to get to sleep, but when she did she had dark dreams of huge buildings, cement, and crashes. Her last dream though, troubled her the most.

She was looking at the ice lake. A little girl and her mother stood a couple feet away from her. The little girl had tears welling up in her eyes, and the mom looked into the lake sadley. Nala broke her gaze off of the mother and daughter and turned to look at the lake. A small plane had landed there, and a handsome man was climbing into it. Before he completely got in, her turned and waved at the child and women. The women waved sadley back, and the girl burst into tears. The man smiled weakly, but before the man went into the plane, he said to the woman and girl, "I'll will come back" then he turned his head back to the plane and got in. As the plane left the ground and was flying away, the girl broke free of her mother's hold and ran sobbing to the center of the lake and watched the plane fly away.

Nala woke with a start and felt her cheeks. They were wet. She wipped the tears from her eyes and looked around. She was lying in a cave. Timber was sitting next to her. He began to pant when she woke up. She smiled, and looked around. Neiges was over at another end of the cave, with Glacier. Nala smile widened when she saw Glacier standing up. He's finally healing! I can't wait until he can- she thought, and her smile faded as she remembered yesterday.
Pushing the dream and yesterday's news out of her mind, she got stiffly up and stretched. Timber watched her closely, as if he was still trying to figure out why Nala had come at night instead of morning.
Nala looked at him "I guess I have to go back" she said sadley. Timber whined, and Nala reached out a hand and pet his head "Maybe I'll stay for a little while..." she said, sighing
