Rantings and Ravings
You know what really grinds my gears? When people get on this website and use their journals to talk sh*t about random things.... oh crap... that's exactly what i am going to do...
The Sun - A Kmad Short Story
I wrote this a while ago, and just found it again, I dusted it off with some editting. hope ya like it!

Juno hated the sun.

He hated it with every fiber of his being, with every hot mouthful of air he was able to breathe, and with every warm droplet of blood that ran down his scorching body and landed onto the dry ground.

His normally soft skin was rough and blistery, with long deep gashes that cracked open due to the dry air and hot, hot sun. He hated the pain, but neither his body, nor his will power would let him die. He hated how he was still alive, forced to live wallowing in his own blood and filth, while insects came and infected his wounds. He feebly tried to swap at one particular bug that kept biting, but to no avail. He stared off a bit, and though his vision was hindered by the sun, he was sure the pack of predators watching him was no mirage.

All this though was nothing compared to the overbearing sun. The sun that continually barbequed his flesh, and cracked open fresh spots on his body, each time causing him immense pain. His throat was dry and he screamed for water, but there was none to be found in this merciless hell hole.

He thought that he could survive without the sun, but the sun saved him everyday. The hot blistery sun saved him from the sub zero night temperature that threatened to freeze Juno solid. At first he embraced the cold, as it lowered his temperature and allowed him some respite from the heat. But then, when icicles formed from the sweat on his brow, when the very blood around him started to freeze over, he longed again for the blistery sun. But when the sun came again and warmed him, it became the hell it once was. Though it saved him from the cold each day, it constantly tortured him.

The only thing that Juno could think to do was to curse the people who did this to him. He was a hired mercenary. He was hired by the USA to kill the new Iraqi president, in order that their guy might step up and lead. Too bad he was found out, and was forced to flee. Too bad the USA needed to cover this up, so they “took care of him.” His country, his beloved motherland betrayed his. They sent soldiers to kill him. The gunshot did not do it, and neither did the knife stab. So they took him to this desolate place, and left him to rot and die. They were laughing when they did it. They were laughing hard, and calling him a traitor to the American cause. If only they knew the truth. His beloved country had betrayed me. The love of his life... gone.

The sun reached its zenith, and like everyday, he could not help but wiggle and squirm to try and find some respite from the overbearing heat. No matter which way he was, the heat continually berated him. It was if a demon had come to torture him. He wished to die badly, but his body would not relinquish his soul. He could even see the demon. Wild eyed, happy at his pain. He could not take it any more. With inhuman strength he lunged at the demon. He chased the demon over the sand dunes, not even feeling what was happening to his dying form. Finally, he jumped at the demon, but fell headfirst into the sand. The demon disappeared.

In front of him, Juno could see an oasis. He thought it was a mirage, but when he reached forward to ward it away, him hand became immersed in the cool water. He rolled over, and submerged into the coolness, taking his fill of drink. He heard the demon laughing again, and he waved at it, before it disappeared.

Juno loved the sun.

hate it? love it? whatever, just leave a comment.
