Name:
"Grey" (Silvan Stillwater)

Occupation: Nine Circles Treasure Hunter

Age: ~22

Biography:
To the esteemed Governor of Southampton,
It has come to our attention that the wanted felon of the alias "Grey" may be operating in your province. A member of the criminal gang "Nine Circles", he is wanted for assault, theft, destruction of government property, murder, and other charges by the city of Briarios. The reward for his head currently is 1000 gold coins. In the case that his head is not identifiable, his right hand must also be presented.
Sincerely yours
Magistrate Adrian Hale of Briarios

On the streets of Briarios, the guild of Nine Circles was not considered a criminal gang, so much as just another guild on the wrong side of the law. Its reputation of reliability and its age however, speak to its strict adherence to the old guild codes of honor and the calibre of its members. A self proclaimed 'Treasure Hunters' guild they are known to 'liberate' even treasures already owned if payed the right sum, but their true speciality is a sort of treasure hunting. 'Looting' or 'desecrating' is what some of the higher members in society label it, but the Nine Circles guild is known to primarily operate in deserted ruins, old tombs, and abandoned temples from the Time Before.

In fact, rumor has it on the streets that their most recent acquisition and sale was of an ancient Elven battle golem that consumed a person to power it each battle. Of course, with the reliability of rumors in the taverns of Briarios, this golem was supposedly sold to the magistrate of Briarios himself, who is also supposedly gathering technology (or as some call it, 'magic') from the lost Elven race for his personal army. The Nine Circles however, are always available for contact and hire in one of the more auspicious underground establishments. Their contracts are never for a specific person to be hired, only for a job to be accomplished and (usually) a hefty sum. Those who have worked with them rarely seem reveal details, but it is known that each member swathes themselves completely in a color, hiding even their faces, and uses that color as their alias name. The exact size of the guild is unknown due to said custom, but rising mercenaries with certain qualities will often disappear, often heralding a new colored member of the Nine Circles. The implications of this would put the guild at roughly twenty members, but its exact size is unknown.

The most recent such disappearance in Briarios was of the bounty hunter Silvan Stillwater, a mercenary who was hired by Magistrate Hale's forces to help guard the entrance to an old underground complex, commonly known to be cursed and filled with dark creatures and mechanical booby traps left behind by the Elves. The entire contingent of guards and several other less known mercenaries were found dead at the site, but the entrance was collapsed and Stillwater was nowhere to be found.

His 'resume' as it were before that included the tracking down and dispensing of several notable criminals, the discovery of a strange Elven gateway in the sewers of Briarios itself (possibly leading to the very same complex he was guarding), and numerous successful duels, one of which was against the Master Blade Trey Williams. Little else was generally known about Stillwater other than he hailed from the mountains to the north, and by some, was considered haunted. Shortly after his disappearance, a member of the Nine Circles cloaked in gray broke into Magistrate Hale's own mansion, stealing several items of great value and causing a fire which burned down more than half of the mansion before town guards could contain it. Shortly thereafter, several of the items were rumored to have been sold on the black market by a Nine Circles member with the alias of "Grey". Stories have it that he has fled from Briarios for the time, either on assignment from his guild, or avoiding Magistrate Hale's manhunt which has guards combing the city for criminal elements to 'help make the city a safer place'.

Appearance:
For aid in the capture of the felon "Grey", the following is the description of him at his last known appearance. His height is estimated at just under six feet, his figure is thought to be slight of build, and his eyes and hair are both shades of brown. He is thought to be wearing completely grey clothing, including a hooded cloak, a mask, loose pants and a grey tabard with a single circle on the chest. At his last sighting, he was wearing grey leather boots and fingerless gauntlets, and on his right hand's fingers, several tattoos were visible. He was equipped with a duelist's dagger and a rapier, as well as two Elven weapon relics. He also may be wearing jewelry looted from Magiste Adrian's mansion, in the form of matching platinum bracelets and a necklace, all bearing the even armed cross of Hale's house.

Those who knew Stillwater before his joining of the guild often described him as a cheerful young man with shocks of long brown hair and perceptive chocolate eyes. He was known to 'walk like a girl' in how he placed one foot directly in front of the other, and had a definite fondness for martial competitions, especially duels, which revealed a certain quickness, or edge, in his movements. He was always humming to himself, and his hands, especially his fingers, never seemed to stop moving, either in small twisting motions at his sides or in wide arcs when he spoke. He often spoke to himself, or as if there was another person about, and whenever he was about, even if he was looking away or his eyes were closed, there was often a sensation of being watched.

Name:
Kirk Donnegal

Occupation: Red Blade Bounty Hunter

Age: ~25

Biography: Most men of this era are defined by their guild. Farmers work in farmer's guilds, Masons work in Mason's guilds, and Politicians do the business of heading guilds. To work without the protection and benefits of a guild is nearly unthinkable But some guilds are defined by their men. Kirk Donnegal is one such man, his image being nearly synonymous with the Red Blade guild. Freelance mercenaries and bounty hunters, they act as the heavy handed police arm in Briarios, their coarse brown tabards emblazoned with a simple red claymore are a sight that make even law abiding citizens watch their step.

Kirk was one of the original members, and his skill with both the heavy handcannons and the massive claymore which is his hallmark is something of a local legend in the city. Born and raised in the rolling hills and fields of the area, he inherited his temperament, both martial and social from his fire headed father, a man with a thick accent from far to the east. From a young boy, Kirk was raised to use a Claymore, to drink, and to smoke like a champion. When he reached adolescence he was hired on as the muscle for a fledgling bounty hunter's guild personally funded by Marcus Hale to supplement the city's weak guard force. Kirk proved himself time and time again, more often than not using unnecessary force and leaving scenes with his claymore dripping red. Since Marcus Hale died, leaving his son Adrian as Magistrate of Briarios, Kirk has been the right hand man of the Red Blade, personally taking care of the Magistrate's most pressing concerns.

His last assignment was with a group of Hale's Guard and assorted mercenaries where they were guarding the entrance of an old Elven ruin. Kirk's presence there along with that of several other notable mercenaries like Red of The Nine Circles, Stillwater of Northern Steel, and Clarice from The White Rose spawned all sorts of rumors about what activity was going on at the site, but the only official statement from Hale was that there was a potential danger to the city from the Elven ruins and he was protecting Briarios. The night of the incident that sealed the entrance and left the entire guard contingent dead or missing happened to be Kirk's night off. He was not aware of the situation until a guardsman found him sleeping off a hangover with a tavern wench, sometime the next day. Now, at Adrian's personal request, Kirk Donnegal is hunting the criminal Grey to retrieve Hale's lost items and bring Grey to justice. Kirk currently suspects Grey of being one of the disappeared members, especially Clarice or Stillwater as neither of their bodies were found, and is using the considerable force of the Red Blade to find out anything he can about their whereabouts.

Appearance:

With the burning red hair of his father, and the striking green eyes and swarthy skin of his mother, Kirk Donnegal is an imposing man. Standing just over six heads tall, his shoulders may not be the widest in Briarios, but the sinuous curves of his muscular form attest to his great strength. Kirk's loud tenor announces him for hundreds of feet, and he speaks with a thick accent similar to his father's. A massive claymore calls his back and his hand its home, close to five heads long itself, Kirk is said to be able to wield it with a single and and such speed that even rapier duelists have a hard time following its path. Two of the large, bulky hand cannons that some of Hale's guard use hang from his hips, and the unmistakable tabard of the Red blade never leave's Kirk's chest. Another item which he will never be found without is his father's pipe, and more often than not it can be found puffing smoke from his mouth.

He swaggers with the confidence of a man who doesn't know the taste of defeat, his favorite word seems to be "Bollocks", and the many scars that criss cross his bare arms and his face serve as an ample display of his profession.
