CHAPTER ONE

Bee

My world is separated into two parts; the first part is my mom and dad’s world. That’s the world you know and normal people know. Were you are born then grow up, then get jobs and have kids, then die peacefully in your sleep with your loving spouse right beside you. Then there is a world only few humans know about, the world of the Necron, my grandfather’s world. My parents didn’t want me knowing anything about that world, but my grandfather and his friend made sure I was aware.

I tried to get up as early as possible due to today be registration at the college. My first semester, and I wasn’t as excited as normal people are when they start college. I was never a very social person; I didn’t associate with people much. I was always so into my school work that I never really noticed much. When I finally pulled myself out of bed I went down stairs to eat. I got the cereal and all the essentials that go with eating cereal for breakfast. I didn’t make much though. I haven’t had much of an appetite lately. I got up to go get dressed, but when I passed through the living room I saw something move outside the window. I turned around and saw a pair of ice blue eye’s starring at me. I ran into the kitchen and grabbed on of the kitchen knifes off of the counter, and ran back into the living room, but it was gone. I think it was a dog or a wolf, all I know it was big. Creepier still, those eyes were the same color as the ones from my dreams.
For months now I have been having these visions or dreams that seem real! As impossible as that is, but I feel everything like it was a past memory that was just unforgettable! They are very realistic; sometimes to the point of I can’t tell that they are just dreams. The most unforgettable thing about them is the man with the unearthly green eyes. The man that claimed my dreams with no name to recall. A Man that even when I am not dreaming still seems to wander my thoughts. The dog in my dream that was always at the dreamy mans side was odd as well. Considering that I could have sworn that I just saw that same dog out my window only minutes ago, I was really wondering where my sanity had gone. I am beginning to wonder where the old Beylene Sparrow had gone.

Change was not something my kind did often, but as many years that I have been around doing the same moving around the world thing was getting old. Not to mention that something was drawing me here to this tiny dark rainy town of Lock Haven Pennsylvania. I figured I would try living amongst mortals for a while. Maybe a bit of college would not hurt. I thought about getting a MDs License, but even after My century’s of life I still don’t know if I could handle myself in a consistent mingling with blood covered humans. I only recently decided to start that practice. So I am going to do a veterinary license. Silver is a main concern of mine, though he is but half my age, and will not age a day more until my own death, he can still die from a gunshot, or a car hitting him. I know he is smart enough not to go in front of a car but my worry is still there.
A sudden flash of a image of me opening the door came to my head, speak of the devil. I got up and opened the door. Silver walked outside into the dime light of the rainy Pennsylvania sky. I didn’t even bother closing the door; he would push it closed when he came back in. Silver is my Familiar, from the day I found him as a pup we have had this weird connection; he can communicate things he wants, feels, and needs though pictures or images. He can understand me, the way another person would understand me talking to them. I just simply say something and he understands. I only noticed that a century or two after I found him that he was no longer aging. He just seemed to get to a point in age and stop the process. Not too long after I noticed this someone I know did tell me what had happen. He shares a unbreakable bond with me, Wolfs are decedents of old magic, and hold more than one way of spawning that magic. Bonding themselves to immortals is one way. Avail, an old friend, and adopted mother to me were who told me about Familiars. She says they are a great joy but can be a great Burden as well. Once you are bound it can’t be undone, not even in its death. If your familiar dies you are left with the up most loneliness to take the place of your lost companion.
When I made up my mind to walk the world of mortals the first I tell is my father, my maker, my friend, Encale. Encale is Avails lover or husband whichever way one wants to look at it, “Together in to eternity” as they would say. We three are from the most powerful line of the immortals. We carry the name of Damascus. Our line was in century’s past and to this day known to be the True Bloods. Though there is really no such thing as pure anything when immortals are involved, but we are the closet to it. It is said we are picked for our auras. Every Damascus created immortal is known to have a power about themselves that others cannot match. Although there are not many of us left. Many of my blood line were bled out by others of the neuron, which is other immortals or as society would call “Vampires”.
I called onto Encale mentally, easily done by my kind. He gave silent answer and was before me in an instant.
“Ah Theodorus, dear boy, It’s been sometime since I seen you.” Encale replied.

“Indeed it has. How have you been?” I asked him

“It has been fairly ok, Avail was just asking about you the other day. She was saying how she has heard nothing of you in a while. She told me that if I did not hear anything of you soon then she was going to send me looking for you.” Encale replied and then walked over to the Bar opened the mini fridge, and chuckled.

“Aye son I thought I would never see the day!” he said smugly. And pulled out a bag of the blood I had in there, and held it up. I just shrugged, and said…

“I have been feeling that a change is needed. I am going to try my hand at walking among mortals for a while.” Encale looked at me like he couldn’t believe his ears.
“Dear boy, are you sure? I mean last I remembered you had little tolerance for them.” Encale said. I dropped down to the couch across from where he was standing. I waited for another reply to that but he just said “Humm” and grabbed a wine glass from the bar counter and poured the contents of the pack he was still holding into the glass. He walked to my chair and sat down just to my left, and he just looked at me waiting.

“I use to not, though I am sickeningly board of the typical life that our kind normally follows. I am going to do something different.” I told him a moment later.

“Well son, I think we should get your mothers thoughts on this, she is the only one who could help you with this subject.” He replied, not a moment later Avail was before us, Arms strait around my neck with a hug. I hugged her back like I always do. She is the mother I always wanted, but didn’t get until after my mortal death.

“Oh filio, I was beginning to worry for you dear. Don’t worry me like that for so long again!” she said and then let go of my neck. she sat down next to me and said…

“Now what is this I hear of you walking with mortals, I thought you would never leave your mortals are dirt era.” I just shrugged at her and said

" I need a change!" i looked away after i spoke. i had always been very strict minded on the mortals area. she said nothing for a moment. after about a minute or so had past she stood before me and pulled my chin up to look her in the eyes.

" son" she started with a sigh. "I hope you know that being around that many people for such vast periods may be a bit of a challenge. I just hope you can keep your self in control. " all i could reply with was...

"I know mom, I will be fine, promise!" after i finished i gave her a reassuring smile. she smiled back and touched her finger to my nose and mouthed "Love you" to me.

"Well" Encale started out "we must be going son. if you need anything just let me know!" i nodded and shook his hand. and then they were both gone. registration was tomorrow. so i got my keys and went to get my supplies for that....

The roads were slick and barely visible. my poor old blazer kept trying to die on me every time i stopped at a red light or stop sign. after a good long drive from driving slow i made it to school, i put the car in park, and cut eh ignition. as soon as i turned around to grab my bag full of books, a ringing started in my ears. the ringing the slowly continued on to voices. it sounded like i was in a football stadium full of people yelling at the top of their lungs. The sound kept climbing until i blacked out...
when i came to someone was knocking a little to hard on the glass window of my truck. when i open my eyes it took me a minute to clear my vision on to see the most unearthly, and yet so vaguely familiar set of eyes starring at me with a surprised and very worried expression. Then i heard him speak...

" Miss, are you alright? I felt... I mean i saw you hit your head on the window when i pulled up." Dumb founded by what or well who i was seeing i couldn't find my words so i nodded. I opened the door but didn't get out right away. i sat there for a moment.

"Thanks" i managed to say in a whisper not wanting to look up at him in fear of looking like a idiot, for starring into those oh to familiar eyes. Then right as i gave in to temptation and looked up those beautiful eyes surrounded by jet black hair, another wave of voices filled my ears!!!
