Beginning of My New Book " Dark Secrets"
Read it and find out how good it starts.
Dark Secrets
By: Richard Townsend

"Hello. This is the tale of my life. My name is Richard Constantine. I wasn't always a bad guy or want to destroy all life. I used to be a very normal, half demon/human, just like the next man. Well, that's what I thought anyways, because I have Eclipse to thank for my being like this. That devil b*****d created me and I was the one who delivered the final blow to the sadistic a*****e. Sit down and listen carefully; for this story started way back in the time of the war between angels and demons. I used to be a very powerful angel; all dressed in gold armor with legions under my command, I used to annihilate many in the name of a ruler that was never mine. Well, let me start from the beginning. It was a dreary day in the middle world. I and two others were sent to extract a fellow archangel from a demon strong hold."

It was very dark and a storm was beginning to brew in the sky above. The three of us walked through the forest of decaying trees. The first, was a tall man with straight, silver hair and grey eyes. He wore a white trench coat with gold cufflings and silver boots. He carried a long sword, which contained a legion of demon's souls, this was the figure of Lord Eclipse. The cold air whispered the dead names of countless demons he had slain in his ears but he proceeded without fear. "This place screams with the pain of many," Eclipse stated in a cold voice.

The next individual was only a few inches shorter than Eclipse and had more of a humorous side. Eyes were as clear as crystal, and hair was long and as black as the night, that waved with the wind. He had on a dark blue and a pair of black sandles. Two, red handled katanas hung at his sides which seemed to glow bright as he walked further into the forest. His swords were blessed with the element of fire and could singe the soul of a corrupt person. He was a great swordsman by the name of Jagger, the Archangel of Oblivion. "Should feel like home to you then, Eclipse," Jagger said laughing. "Dang, it's cold in this place. Why couldn't this be a normal demon hideout?"

"Stop complaining, Jagger," Eclipse scolded. "You whine more than Richard over there. He's still new to special ops jobs and still you whine more." Eclipse smiled as he pointed at me, as I tried to act like I wasn't paying attention.

I was as tall as Eclipse but wore a dengy, gold armor plate over my chest. My charcoal boots had never roughed such terrain in all my time being an Archangel. My long, red hair kept blowing in my face the whole time, so I had to tie it back. Everyone said my jade green eyes were creepy but I didn't care. I never really liked to smile but the joke Eclipse made to Jagger made me snicker a bit. The broadsword I carried didn't have any special ability, except for it being extremely heavy. I kept quiet for the entire walk there, for my power was not as strong as Jagger's or Eclipse's. I envied Lord Eclipse enough not to get on his bad side.

"This is gonna be a tough mission because the demons are holding hostages," Jagger stated. "We can't just go in with guns a blazing." Eclipse rolled his eyes as we kept on course for the hideout. The wind picked up and began breaking trees like twigs.

"What is going on?" I asked. The others had a look of displeasure as well. "I didn't think demons controlled there elements this well."

"They aren't limited to their power," Eclipse explained. "They are just like you and me. Elements are not picky for it will choose a host and stay with it. As for right now, I believe we are facing a very powerful foe."

"Do they honestly think this minor wind will stop us?" Jagger said in a cocky tone. "I'll fix this." Suddenly, two mighty, silver wings burst from his blue robe. With a strong flap of his wings, the wind ceased to blow. "I still got it."

"Jagger, why do you keep on showing off in front of the new guys?" Eclipse asked as he shook his head. "Look, we've finally made it." Eclipse pointed to a large building that looked as though it would fall apart if a leaf fell on it. "Looks like arch demons are guarding out front."

"How can you tell it's an arch demon?" I asked in a shaken voice. Jagger then pointed to the massive, red creature standing at the doorway.

"The easiest way to tell the difference is a normal demon is kinda skrowny like the ones next to the arch demon. A regular demon is weak and easily killed. As for the arch demon is almost unstoppable and they come in two colors, black or red or a combination of the two. They wear little to no armor because their bodies are very thick and so is the skin. Easiest way to kill one is through the heart but in order to do that you must get close to it. On the other hand, getting that close is suicide and a good way to get yourself ripped in two. But since there are three of us, it shouldn't be that tough, hahaha." Jagger and Eclipse both laughed under their breaths as we watched the beast patrolling the grounds.

"Is their an element that they are weak against," I asked. "They must be weak against something."

"Sorry to burst your bubble kid, but those things are invincible against any element," Eclipse replied. "Even dark elements like mine and Jagger's have no effect on those things. If you want to use fire, good luck. It'll swallow up the fire and spit it in your face."

"What about if we combined our elements?" I asked still hopeing to get some useful information. To my surprise though I just got chewed a new butt hole.

"You ask to many questions," Eclipse exclaimed. "I know your new but don't annoy the ones trying to help you out. We are not a team built to use combination attacks. Did you not listen to the brief we had last week? I control the element of darkness. You control the element of fire, do you not?"

"Yes, I do control fire," I replied. "What about Jagger, though?" Jagger smiled when I asked the question. "Oh I remember. You are a hybrid between darkness and fire."

"You are right," Jagger said. "Eclipse, he's only new and has to be told this kind of stuff. Micheal wouldn't let him in on the briefing. I guess it's to surprise him during his first mission."

"That moron, Micheal, is trying to get us killed then," Eclipse said. "If he isn't properly trained, how is he to fight the opponents we face today?"

"From what you two have told me, I'll do fine." I replied. "I was just never informed of such foes as these arch demons. If you'll permit, I'll take on the big guy. Like you said, I need to be trained." Eclipse smiled when I said that and gave me the thumbs up.

"Kid, I like you," Eclipse commented. "Give'um hell. Show no mercy for they will show you none. Alright, me and Jagger will go after the little ones. Are you ready for this?"

"I was born ready, " I replied in a stern voice. The three of us jumped out from behind the bushes and attacked. Jagger and Eclipse began killing each of the soldiers one by one. To my surprise, the arch demon was much larger than I expected. As I ran to attack the beast, it turned and knocked me down and laughed as it tried to stomp me into the ground. I rolled backwards to my feet and stood up only to feel the mighty punch of the monstrous foe. I rolled back to my feet again and dodged the next attack from the beast. With a powerful, round house kick, I laid the monster out on the ground. As if nothing had happened, the demon stood back to his feet. It yelled with a thunderous voice and completely paralyzed my body. As I stood dazed from the roar, I could hear Eclipse and Jagger fighting the arch demon.

"Is that the best you can do?" I heard Jagger yell. "It's like your not even wanting to fight us."

"Haha, true that, Jagger," Eclipse added. "Maybe it's confused after that kick from Richard. Let's finish him already." I stood up and ran over to help the two. "Look who decided to join us."

"Thought I'd take a quick nap while you two did all the work," I replied as I unsheathed my sword. I quickly grabbed the breastplate armor of the mighty demon and jerked myself up into the air and came down with a devastating slice. As I landed on the ground, the demon had split in two and turned into red ash.

"Not bad for a beginner," Jagger complimented. "Maybe next time you'll be able to do it alone."

"Let's go in and finish this mission," Eclipse said. "Then we can get this kid back to training in his own league." He shook his head as he walked past me. For the first time I realized just how cold Eclipse really was. We entered the stronghold were our friends were being held and noticed how bleak and much colder it was inside. The floor was covered in rotten meat and maggots infested the corpses of fallen victims. The air was filled with a horrid stench that was almost unbearable. The growling of the demon warriors rattled inside the walls of the dank passageway.

"The passageway turned and curved like the body of a snake. The heroes truly where inside the belly of the beast. Fear gripped Jagger with every growl of the demons. Cold chills ran down his -"

"Richard! Stop scaring Jagger," Eclipse scolded. "I had to stop him, you actually looked pretty scared Jagger."

"Shut up! I'm not scared, I was just in deep concentration," Jagger snapped. "Why would I be scared? I've done this so many times. I -

"Stop whining, Jagger," Eclipse laughed. "Don't worry, Richard will save you if you get to scared." Jagger glared and stuck his tounge out at me as we walked the long, disgusting tunnel. "Quiet. I think we are getting close."

"How can you tell," Jagger asked as he walked up next to Eclipse. Suddenly a steel cage fell down and locked away Eclipse and Jagger. "Richard hide now. Get away from here." Without thinking, I ran down the passage and left them both behind. As I had left, a sinister presence was growing close to the caged rescuers.

"Hahaha! What do we have here?" a sturdy man said in a calm voice. He was dressed in a black, pin stripe tuxedo and black dress shoes. His short hair was greased back and blood red eyes glew like a burning desire. "Where is your friend? Oh my. He left you both here to die didn't he?"

"Who are you? You don't look like a demon," Jagger asked. "What reason do you have to keep us?" The man laughed greedily with a hand held high.

"But on the contrary. I am a demon but in a since I am not," the man replied. "You see. I am not just any ordinary breed. As you have noticed by now I'm sure; you have no power around me. Lord Eclipse has been trying to summon his dark power the whole time."

"What are you then?" Eclipse commanded. "What kind of creature has the ability to cancel the power of the elements?"

"The only creatures not born with any type of power," the man replied. " I am a grand duke of the highest noble heritage. To some I am known as a dark angel of pain, but I prefer you just call me Astaroth."

"So what do you plan on doing with us?" Jagger asked. Astaroth turned and blew a purple puff of smoke into Jagger's face. "W-what i-i-is this?" Jagger fell to the floor with blood running from his mouth.

"What the- ? Jagger wake up," Eclipse said shaking the unconscious Jagger. "I've never seen a spell as powerful as this. Not even my dark sleep can cause these symptoms."

"Silence you fool," Astaroth commanded. "He's not dead... yet. My dragon prefers his food alive. You idiots take Eclipse and Jagger to the holding cells." Two black demons opened the cage and grabbed Eclipse and Jagger and carried the two away. "Now what ever happened to the other one. Go find him." A shadow suddenly shot across the wall and down the passage. I was standing outside the building trying to catch my breath when I heard the wailing of the spirit coming towards me. Quickly I unsheathed my sword and prepared for the worst.

"Come and get me," I yelled through the door. As the enemy passed the door I swung only to hit air and lose my balance.
