Powers:
The Scarlet Witch can tap into mystic energy for reality-altering effects; this power was formerly limited to the creation of "hex-spheres" of reality-disrupting quasi-psionic force to cause molecular disturbances in a target's probability field, resulting in spontaneous combustion, deflection of objects in flight, and so on. She later became able to alter reality on a far greater scale, creating entire armies of enemies from nowhere. Although the Scarlet Witch has been trained in basic sorcery techniques, she lacks the specialized mystic training required to fully control her power.

History:
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were born on a very snowy night at the Citadel of Knowledge to the refugee woman Magda Eisenhardt, who was on the run from her husband. Shortly after giving birth, Magda fled, leaving the twins behind in the care of Bova, the cow woman. The infants were left in the care of the gypsy leader Django Maximoff and his wife, and raised as Gypsies. Wanda, showing talent at a very young age, was raised to be a witch, learning from many different gypsy witches throughout her young life.

One day, she accidentally used her mutant abilities, having no control over them, and she and her brother were attacked by a mob of angry villagers. Thankfully, the mutant master of magnetism Magneto came to their rescue, recognizing them as mutants. Grateful to him for saving Wanda's life, they were indebted to him and served on his Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. That is, until the pair grew tired of doing his dirty work and left.

After spending some time hiding away in Europe, they saw on the news that the Avengers were seeking out new members. Seeing this as a chance for redemption, they traveled to America to take the opportunity, and thus joined the second incarnation of the Avengers. It was in the Avengers that Wanda met her husband to be, the android known as the Vision. The two fell in love and eventually left the Avengers to start a family. Wanda became pregnant with twin boys, William and Thomas, and the four lived very happily together.

However, misfortune was on its way. The Vision was seize by a rogue faction of the U.S. government and dismantled. After his was reassembled, his emotions were gone, and he divorced Wanda, reasoning that it was illogical to retain their relationship with no emotions attached. Shortly after, Mephisto visited the Avengers West Coast and absorbed Wanda's twin boys, who were apparently fragments of his soul. This caused Wanda to go temporarily insane, until her mentor Agatha Harkness stepped in and erased her memories of her children completely.

Wanda continued in the Avengers for years, never knowing she had once had children. Then one day, the Avenger known as the Wasp slipped up and mentioned something about them. Wanda quickly put two and two together, and began to once again lose her sanity. This resulted in the events of what became known as "Avengers Disassembled", resulting in the deaths of Ant Man (Scott Lang), Hawkeye (Clint Barton), Vision, and the re-death of Jack of Hearts through manipulation of reality. Dr. Strange managed to shut down her brain, and Magneto retrieved his daughter, taking her to Genosha where he and Professor Xavier attempted to rehabilitate her.

Their attempts were in vain. As the new incarnation of the Avengers and the X-Men were meeting to decide where Wanda would live or die, her brother Pietro convinced her to change reality into one where everyone she knew received their greatest wish. This became known as the House of M. Eventually the reality was brought down by a group of heroes. Angered that her father chose being a great ruler and mutant supremacy over being a good father to his own children, Wanda, in her insanity, turned off the X-Gene in approximately 98% of the world's mutant population but uttering the words "No More Mutants", leaving around 300 still powered. This became known as M-Day.

After this, she disappeared for months, until Hawkeye, raised from the dead during the House of M event, discovered her living in the shadow of Mt. Wundagore in Transia, apparently having no memories or powers, though he discovered differently of her powers.

Gaian Additions:
After being visited by too many people to ignore, Wanda's memories began to return. After a short time, she returned to New York City, buying a small house and living an anonymous life, though discreetly seeking out certain people in the super hero community, such as her sons, whom she was surprised to discover were alive.

The mutant supremest Apocalypse tracked her down and asked her to join his quest, and she agreed to join on the condition that he attempt to take a peaceful path. The two began to grow close emotionally, eventually leading to their engagement and marriage.

The body of the Scarlet Witch was found in a back alley in Downtown Manhattan. It was mangled nearly beyond recognition, scratch marks, puncture wounds, acid burns, and bite marks marring her entire body. The police and the coroner refuse to make an official statement.
