Tomoyo is best friend to Sakura. She is a kind and sweet girl. She however, has an obsession with video-taping Sakura and her adventures capturing the Clow Cards. When she discovers that Sakura has become the Cardcaptor, she becomes Sakura's primary fashion consultant and films all of her magical (and non-magical) endeavours.
Tomoyo faithfully keeps Sakura's Cardcaptor identity secret and often covers for her in times of need. She is always leading new sampling gadgets from her mother's company such as a mobile phone each for Sakura, Kero, Syaoran and herself to aid Sakura in her Cards captures. It also makes for easier contact should something comes up.
Tomoyo is the daughter of the president of Daidouji Toy Company, Daidouji Sonomi. Sonomi is the cousin of Sakura's mother Kinomoto Nadeshiko, which makes Sakura and Tomoyo second cousins. Tomoyo's father is never shown in the series and is only alluded to once, but it is apparent that he does not live in the Daidouji household.
Tomoyo's western-style house in Tomoeda is quite grand, with several maids serving the household. She is sometimes attended by the Daidouji family's team of female bodyguards, who address Tomoyo as "Mistress". Despite her family's wealth, Tomoyo is not the rich spoiled child. She is sincere and wise.
Tomoyo is very mature for her age and often notice many things that other people miss. One of her strengths is her selflessness towards Sakura. Tomoyo is caring, highly intelligent, meticulous, and very melodic. She is a member of the choir and has a superb singing voice. She often sings for school events, competitions, and Tomoeda festivals.
