A fellow classical music dork! I love bassoon too, even though I'm a cellist - we seem to get lots of the same things in orchestral works sometimes, hmm? (P.S. Shostakovich writes some kickass quartets, gosh, my quartet recently played the third movement of his third quartet at state solo and emsemble ... good stuff)

The animation is from the last episode of the anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion". NOT the movie, but the last episode of the actual show. It's actually a bit longer and more trippy than what I cropped out though, due to filesize constraints.

The first one is from a book called JTHM (Johnny the Homicidal Maniac) and the second is a quote from Hiei of Yuyu Hakusho. ^^

Owenite, I like the sound of that.

I l-O-V-E him, he's my absolute favorite poet. Apparently he was quite an interesting and rather odd fellow, as his biography has informed me.

Isn't he awesome? He's one of my favorite authors! His books are my number-one destressor --light, but with enough depth to be utterly engrossing, if I actually feel like thinking. And every time I read them, I discover something new x3 What're your favorite books/characters? I have to say I quite like Moist from two of his newer books...

And Vetinari and Vimes, of course <3

I originally stopped by to say that your signature was cute. And got distracted by your foot-note'd profile, which made me laugh xD It reminds me of a favorite author of mine, Terry Pratchett...if you haven't read him, you should.

Glad to hear it! Those crazy government regulators take all the fun out of it....

The 'me' box

In the real* world, I am not a mysterious, masked figure shrouded with glittering mists and steam**. Obviously. That would just be weird***. Which I am not. At all. No, nothing weird here. Yes sir, everything is perfectly normal****. Some circles may know me as a small, cat-sized dragon with purple scales. They may be correct. They may be wrong. We tell no one.
This box is subject to change without any warning whatsoever. Unpredictability makes life interesting. It is also liable to stay the same for a long periods of time, becoming increasingly inaccurate as time****** goes by*******.

*What is reality? Can it be seen? heard? eaten? prodded with a stick? Are there, in fact, higher realities than this one? Does this footnote consist entirely of questions? Does it have any relevance to the main text? We do not know.

**Oh, wait. I'm not that in the online world, either. *sigh* I really need to update this...

***And heavy. Gold is dense stuff. Can you imagine trying to swim with twenty-odd pounds of metal sticking out of your head? And airport security would be a nightmare.

****But only for given values of normal. Specifically the solutions to the equation Normal=sin(Weirdness^2) "Cultural Norm"/tan(Incomprehensible Human Ability to overlook the blatantly bizarre, provided it does not spontaneously turn into a chicken*****)

*****Not that there's anything wrong with chickens, mind. Especially not fire-breathing ones. Not that we would be involved in experimental breeding of fire-breathing chickens................

******As opposed to thyme, which is an herbaceous plant used as a seasoning in many dishes.

*******This is called "stagnation", and has something to do with swamps********.

********I've always liked swamps. Such...interesting things live there...

The box of randomness

See that person, walking down the hallways, humming Shostakovich's third string quartet? That's me. Probably. Unless there happens to be another person randomly walking down said hallway. Or it might be ony of my many alter egos. Oh, I might also be humming something Baroque. Or Classical. Or something by John Williams. Or Howard Shore. Or Edvard Grieg. It could also be Philip Glass. Or Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakoff. Or..... Yeah. You get the idea. Random music fills my head. You get used to it after a while.

I am a bassoonist, and proud to fight valiantly to convince people that it is not, in fact, an oboe. (I will also split infinitives like no one has split them before!)

I'm also obsessed with languages. If you annoy me, I will talk at you in Latin. You have been forewarned.

I also enjoy finding obscure words from the long forgotten mists of the English Language. (Like minimifidianism, atramentious, arcipluvian, natatorium, and others.)

I do not suffer from insanity, I enjoy every minute of it!
