This is Erin...
I am presently on the road to recovery (pun intended). I was hit by a car on 2-13-07 at around 6-6:30 PM, by an old person who needs to have his glasses checked. I was apparently saved by my ability to channel the spirit of Jackie Chan. Justin (the friend who was walking with me at the time) says that I rolled over the hood of the car and walked over to the curb where I collapsed. All I remember is some headlights and moving trees. Ents!!! Then I was looking at a few faces around me. I gingerly felt the back of my head which hurt, and my fingers were coated with blood. “Woooooow…. This is weird.” I then looked over to see if the car had stopped, it had.
Justin called an ambulance, and I was loaded on to a very stiff pea-green stretcher and strapped into a head-neck support thingy which was as uncomfortable as hell and dug into the cut at the back of my head. “Why do I need this?” I asked the ambulance attendee.
“You might’ve gained damage to your spine or neck.” Was his reply.
Well obviously I haven’t if I lifted up my head to see the car stopped or not!!! Is what I wanted to say but I’m too shy.
At the hospital they cat scanned me, which took FOREVER, and cleaned out my head. Oh yeah, I was without pain-relieving drugs during this whole time. Seeing my blood drip down onto the floor was disconcerting but Sage was excellent company as she kept nattering on about inconsequential yet comforting things. All Justin and Keenan did was stand around giving off waves of sorry-ness.
9 staples are keeping my scalp together, I had a concussion. My head smells like a fish that rolled in dog….Or whatever. Constant headache, aching muscles….Ya.
