I'm Canadian. I don't live in an igloo or drive a Zamboni to school, although I think that'd be sexy.

I am in love with the works of Botticelli. You'd better know who he is. He's my favourite painter at the moment. His most famous works are La Primavera and The Birth of Venus, both in the Uffizi. Anyone who's studied Renaissance history would also admire The Adoration of the Magi which is more like the Adoration of the Medici and Friends.

One of my favourite artists is Michelangelo. If you don't know who that is, then you are a sad, sad child. He is most famous for his Sistine Chapel and David. Although, with the various renditions of David, my favourite would have to be Donatello's version. My favourite sculpture at the moment is Bernini. I love his pagan themes. I'm so sure you're still reading this.

I dream of going to Florence to see Brunelleschi's Duomo. Giuliano de' Medici and the Pazzi Conspiracy fascinates me and Lorenzo Il Magnifico intrigues me. Cosimo de' Medici is brilliant. Politics at the time of the Renaissance a strong area of study for me, although I don't have much formal training on it.

My favourite book at the moment is The Prince by N. Machiavelli. His ideas and innovations are genius. Cesare Borgia is my hero. His family is utterly prodigious in intrigue. I admire both his intellect and his ruthlessness, a true Renaissance Prince.

Another person I think is wrongly portrayed in history is Bosie, Lord Alfred Douglas. He was beautiful, yes, impetuous, yes, and not the best person in the world but he's not the villain everyone paints him out to be. His poetry, especially Two Loves and The Dead Poet are extremely well written. I am still a fan of Oscar Wilde regardless.

My favourite English novel has to be Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte which I first read in Grade 9, I think. It is so emotional and beautiful, it transcends time. I've read it at least five times since then. Before that it was Pride and Prejudice by our lovely Jane Austen. I hate all the crap people do to it. It is a delightful book by itself.

I'm rather cynical. I agree with Machiavelli and Hobbes that humans are innately selfish and evil. Rousseau and his noble savage is way too optimistic. I believe a strong government is necessary to ensure safety and security, like Hobbes mentions in Leviathan. Even if that means condoning a tyranny or an enlightened despot. As long as the state is secure, people are alive and well, then they should be happy.

Rights are not innate, they are given. However, note that the people should be alive and well. That means I DO NOT condone genocide or persecution. A strong government should work for the best of ALL the people, whether it is a democracy, a monarchy, an oligarchy, whatever.

I read Heidegger. Yes, he's a Nazi, that does not negate the philosophical works of his person.

I was a fan of Anne Boleyn before this new Tudor Mania revival.

I don't take any "gossipy" history bullshit. If you have an opinion, back it up by facts. (The Tudors does not constitute as an actual source)

Yes, it's the old one and, in my opinion, it's almost as good as the book. The actors are great! Colin Firth is the one and only mr. Darcy!
