Long ago, in the long forgotten forest of Aquitane was a village. It was a village high in the mountains, where the peaks reached far into the clouds and towards the bright, shining stars. The sky was always deep blue, bluer than the oceans and the bluest of things. A lone girl lived here. This is her history.She lived in the mountains, amongst her people. When the plague hit her small village, it took the lives of many. Her mother, father, sisters, brothers, friends, and everyone else. The doctors couldn't do anything to help them. 'Twas too late. This girl was abandoned. She was only 2, and the only survivor of the deathly illness. She grew up, wishing something would happen. As she grew older, she became more aware. She dreamed of life away from this place, to somewhere more. She dreamed of people, lamps with fire flickering in them, of a warm bed, and a family to have close.
Although she longed for another life, she wasn't depressed where she was. She danced with fire flies underneath the stars. The moonlight kept her calm, and the sun kept her warm in the cool days. She would take walks to the old quarries of her people, looking at the marble that had not been touched by a miner's hand in many, many years. She even liked to climb the old sycamore tree and let the wind caress her arms. Her amber eyes would beam as she invented things of use for herself. Nothing was wrong with her life.
One day, the girl decided this life wasn't hers. A journey was to be had. She packed her few belongings and set off onto the overgrown paths. She knew her life was about to change when she passed the old fountains. She said goodbye to her old home, disappearing into the wilderness. The fog swallowed her and the sun set. She had gone with the wind, into the stars and the clouds above from which she had come.
