I wanted to join my college's anti-trafficking club, but the club meetings were during class time. Then the club became inactive because the founder of the club graduated and most of the club members were in the club because they were friends with her. It's great that you do LGBTQ activism! I'm bisexual and I was friends with many people in college who fell somewhere in the LGBTQ alphabet. I like to focus moreso on bisexual issues due to biphobia by gay and straight people. Color of Change is my favorite black rights organization. I sign petitions from them all the time and started when the Ferguson riots happened.
I don't have Facebook. I had it for a semester because it was required for class participation in one of my classes.
So what kind of stuff do I focus on? Black rights, LGBTQ equality, feminism (workplace and healthcare are the biggest subjects), raising awareness and debunking myths with organ donation, gun control, and reasonable prices for medical care and medications. I also want to become a mentor for women of color who want to go into a STEM field.
Organ donation hits close to home for me because my mom's brothers and my middle school friend were organ donors when they died. My uncles are why I chose to register as an organ donor when I obtained my learner's permit over 8 years ago. I want to mentor young women of color who want to go into a STEM field because I'm a woman of color in a STEM field and I feel like a lack of representation in STEM is causing women to become discouraged. So many female college students change their majors because of the male domination and systemic sexism in the workplace.
