All right, so here you are, creeping on my profile, sizing me up, probably with your left hand touching your face (OMG, so true, right?), and STILL reading? I am here to inform you that is not lame and even though you COULD be doing something else, you (justifiably) SHOULD be on Gaia.
Alternatively, I should probably explain about my name. Well, screen name, actually. sweatdrop Let us see; to begin with, I am going to assume most of you have never heard of Azrael, or for that matter her brother and lover, Abbadon. Allow me to enlighten you.
How about we start with the falling, or banishment, of the "Light-Bearer", "Morning Star", or Lucifer. Originally an archangel of highest praise, his 'occupation' was to protect the throne of God. Being such a high and influential angel, Lucifer saw the power of God and wanted it; in his pursuit to upstage his Lord, his friends and followers were convinced by his charms to question the Lord's rule. Not long after his rebellion, Lucifer was cast out of Heaven with his hosts of angels by archangel Michael, the Commander of the Army of God, under order of His Holiness.
Among the angels who were under the influence of Lucifer and also cast from Heaven were Azrael and Abbadon. Azrael, the Archangel of Death, and Abbadon, the Archangel of Destruction. Being the Angel of Death, and before having been banished from Heaven, Azrael was charged with the task of separating and returning from the bodies the souls of people who are to be recalled permanently from the physical world back to the primordial spiritual world. This is a process whose aspect varies depending on the nature and past deeds of the individual in question, and it is known that the Angel of Death passes the "final judgement", as some call it, and grants entrance or denial into Heaven.
