Bartholomew Kuma is one of the Seven Royal Warlords of the Sea (a Shichibukai), and as such, is often at odds against the protagonists.
Kuma is a towering man who was once feared throughout the world for his bloodthirsty barbarism. He was referred to as "Kuma the Tyrant" back in those days. After eating the cursed Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, he was granted the unique power to push objects and people away at light speed upon contact with his paws.
Some time after this, in cooperation with famed scientist Dr. Vegapunk, Bartholomew Kuma transformed his body into that of a cyborg. The Pacifista project would go on to create android copies of Kuma to serve as enforcers of the World Government.
Though Kuma follows every World Government rule to the letter (perhaps better than any of his comrades), he is not above exercising his own decisions if need be. Kuma has an eye for talent, and promising devotion in other pirates. The silent giant passes judgment on others with his own heart, however metal it may be.
