I was trying to find you in my friends list! You probably found out by now but just in case I recently just found out that the author of Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality is a 32-year-old dude named Eliezer Shlomo Yudkowsky.
Assuming Wikipedia is right I'm in a very warm fuzzy "mystery solved" mood that I just wanted to pass along. ^^
haha you'll do fine. you sound really passionate about english--people less-than-passionate get at least 15 minutes of fame.
i can see it now! your books flooding barnes and nobles and your name on the nyt bestseller list! biggrin
so yeah. it's pretty cool to have met a future famous person. pirate
You--You Have Neil Gaiman's Autograph?!?!?! eek I've been dying to meet him. He's an incredibly unbelievably good writer. He does Stephen King prettified, I guess.
Like modern fairy tales. Neverwhere's the most steampunk out of all of them. Well. It's the most urban...Not much steam going on though Door's kind of punk.
Yeah the Writer's House is basically where all the Lit kids hang out and have poetry slams and stuff like that. It sounds epic but I haven't even visited the college yet lol
It was just on the website. But I'll check it out when I get there.
Ah well I don't watch TV so I guess my only chance to read really modern steampunk is when you get published. So keep at it. biggrin
Yeah I'll try that. Just picking out classes that look interesting. It actually sounds like a good idea, thanks!
Or else I'll just spend a lot of time in the Writer's House and fill up whatever classes I have left after my Animation major
and Premed requirements are filled...gonk There's too much stuff I wanna study lol I wanted to learn Japanese, Chinese, French and Latin too. ninja
I haven't read any steampunk I think. Or else I've got a blurry idea of what it is exactly. Is it like...Is it like Mirrormask? (Well no that's not a book.) Or Howl's Moving Castle? (That's not punk...)
But that's a good thing! It means it hasn't become cliche. Do you do NaNoWritMo?
I mostly write urban fantasy and fantasy too. Think Neil Gaiman. LOL yeah I had a novel but it went somewhere and didn't come back.
My characters are sitting by a lake having a picnic right now and don't want anymore drama. So poetry nowadays.
Are you going to be a full-time writer?
One teen protagonist I did like was Nathaniel in the Bartimaeus Trilogies and he's just a parody of the angsty teen.
You're a creative writing major? So you're going to write novels? What are you interested in writing? (If you get this a lot and it annoys you
please tell me off right away, lol, and I apologize in advance.)
I don't know if I should major in creative writing or not. Are there really any benefits?
"Adorkable" is the perfect adjective for Neville. It should be a real word! biggrin
Really, I don't know...I can't say Rowling's characters were really amazingly three-dimensional, you know?
At best, they were eccentric caricatures (in my opinion though!)...I guess I liked Dobby. I don't fully understand him, so I
guess I like him. I like Luna too because she makes me laugh and I don't understand her either.
I really didn't like Harry, but what else is new? It's hard to find a likable main character...ninja
