Wow, sounds like you're being super busy. How are you handling the workload?
Having more than one skill is always good...keeps your flexible in your job options too.
Speaking of basics, I've been going back and doing some technical exercises and working my technique as well. After graduating, my practice times have become irregular and my resolution for this year is to kick myself back into disciplinary mode...which means a regular practicing schedule. Let us both work hard!
I've been teaching piano and theory, not full time, but I will try and answer your questions if I can. Go ahead and email me, I've sent you my address in the PM.
I don't have the recording for the concert, but I do have a few older ones lying around, including the two tracks I shared with you and antaine a long time ago. If you're interested I can certainly dig them out and send you a couple more to listen to. ^_^
Haha yea, lots of people don't know about the modes, although we constantly hear it. And I guess it's more of a matter of memorization with you if you have to hear the song first before reading it. :3
Sign language and X-ray? Wow, talk about random diversity. XD Are you doing those so you have a backup if you're not taking the music route when you graduate?
It's wonderful you have so many opportunities with the bands now. As a classical pianist, I didn't have many chances to play in large ensembles, but I really enjoyed it whenever I did get to play with one. Jazz and such obviously gets to do these type of work more...I really envy you for that. So are you playing in the bands already? Or about to?
Yea the guild kinda fell apart, but things like that happens often online. Real life always takes precedence, and I'm glad you're doing well right now. ^_^
Indeed, I'm teaching private lessons now. It's an interesting learning experience for me with all the different kinds of kids I encounter. I think I'm spreading a reputation right now as being the patient, gentle type...when in fact, I don't oppose to being mean to students, but I just can't bring myself to be angry with them like some teachers I know. XD
But yea, talking about that recording, I'm in fact doing a recital with the same singer in October. We're about to start rehearsals soon and I'm really excited to get to perform again.
Modes aren't just found in chants, you see them used throughout the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and also in folk music. Later on there's the whole Neoclassical movement that brought some of it back, and not to mention jazz, which I'm sure you know uses modes quite extensively.
How's school going for you? Graduating any time soon? 3nodding
Hey Camry, couldn't access your Agent-Camry profile so I'm leaving the response here.
Anyway, yea that scale you mentioned is a mode. F# Phrygian to be exact....and actually, modes are used quite a lot, even in classical music.
Well, at least some people are coming back. And things have been busy over on my end, the program I'm in just keeps on taking more and more time from me. But it's all good. I'm hanging out wth IRaqi guysand -most importantly- girls, XD.
