For many years, Catalina Aldera followed her sisters and did what she felt to be her duty, putting the desires of others before her own. However, the major turning point in her life came during the Second Moralian War between Light and Void, during which Magnus Corvius, under the control of Void, turned Catalina to the 'dark side' using an ancient dark ritual. Though her sisters were horrified, Catalina took to her new affinity like a natural, and once freed of the sentience of Void she began to experiment with her newfound powers.
Catalina has forsaken study of a secondary element to focus on the martial arts, including mastery of the plasma blade. She has learned to focus her own Fire energies tightly through her blade, creating a focused plasma energy blade that can cut through almost anything. She can also control the blade itself, extending its reach or releasing deadly plasma blasts from the tip. Her natural agility has been greatly aided by the power of Void, which she can use to assume a seemingly ethereal form.
Catalina's budding relationship with Magnus may be in part due to her recent conversion, and is definitely fueled by their mutual physical attraction. However, a deeper aspect to their relationship was revealed when Catalina refused to leave Magnus's side before his duel with Regulus. Though she eventually complied with his demand that she get to safety, she first expressed her feelings and concern for him.
Since the staggering return of Regulus in Moralia, Catalina has fled along with the others to Gaia.
