Yeah, and a bit darker, too. I liked Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency more because it was very darkly surreal, but Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul was really good, too, and even darker in some ways. Both are ingenious stories, though. Wish he hadn't died, Douglas Adams. He was brilliant.

I think you may have it almost dead on, actually. I didn't like the last two in the series terribly much, but the first three are classics. Ever read Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency or Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, by the same author?
