Sorry this is so long.

"Wi-fi (over the internet):
1) Make sure you're somewhere with a good wi-fi connection. At the game's startup screen, you have an option to set up and test a connection. This can be confusing, but you can go here http://www.nintendo.com/games/wifi/ds for help, or failing that, call Nintendo and see if you get someone nice enough to walk you through it like I did.
2) Go downstairs in a Pokemon Center. Your first time going here, you'll be given a Pal Pad, where you register people's friend codes so you can trade and battle with them. You can also check your own friend code.
3) Contact the person you're trading with and exchange character names and friend codes, and agree on a time to trade.
4) At the agreed upon time, both of you talk to the lady in the middle (again, downstairs in the Pokemon Center) and connect to wi-fi.
5) Once connected, each person should see the other's name. One of you selects the Trade option and the other clicks the name and selects Apply.
6) Proceed to trade Pokemon."

Nope. I can't catch magmar or electabuzz in my game. I'm breeding them and then releasing them. I like it when my name is the original trainer.
It's strange. O _o;

I traded the Magmar for a Murkrow (which I can get a ton of.)
And then I traded the Electabuzz for a Pikachu (which I can also get a ton of.)

so i needed to make it defining.
