After trying to confess his love to his crush, Risa Harada, Daisuke discovers that an entity called Dark Mousy lives within him. Ever after, he transforms into Dark whenever he experiences feelings of love or romance. After being rejected, Daisuke slowly finds himself falling in love with Risa's sister, Riku Harada. She does end up returning his feelings, after better seeing the depth of Daisuke's personality. Daisuke Niwa is also skilled in various ways, including art, picking locks, dodging obstacles and traps, and athletics. Daisuke does resemble his Grandfather Daiki Niwa greatly when He was a younger as The Phantom Thief.
