A Nutley High School junior died suddenly.

Nutley police reported on Sunday that police and emergency responders were called at 2 a.m. Saturday to an Oakridge Avenue home on a report of an "unresponsive female."
"Police and medical personnel attempted to revive 16-year-old Sabrina Sapporito, who was pronounced dead at Clara Maas Hospital earlier this morning," police stated in a press release.
The Essex County Prosecutor's Office approved release of the information. Authorities declined to elaborate, stating only it was a "sudden death."
In a statement, Police Chief John Holland and Nutley Public Safety Commissioner Al Petracco "extend condolences to Sabrina’s family and friends, and offered any assistance that they may need in this time of sorrow."
"All of our thoughts and sympathies are with the family," the Nutley Board of Education announced on its website on Thursday. "Counselors have been made available throughout the day to assist students throughout the district. We are acting as one community, supporting everyone through this difficult time.
"As always, our counselors remain accessible to the entire student body, and with the help of our teaching faculty, we continue to support all of our students. Please keep in mind that any traumatic event can trigger an emotional reaction, even to an unrelated event (family illness, prior losses, etc.)."

"She had many friends that loved and cared for her. She was always there whenever somebody needed help. She was never in her life selfish. She was truly an amazing friend," one person, identified as "a good friend," posted on the page.
