Who am I?
I am a crazy freak.
I am a dragonfly, surrounded by horse flies.
I am a dove in a flock of geese.
There are those who are different; they live their lives never wanting to show themselves. I have witnessed these people grow, and their minds may change, but the girl I knew who was like this never changed. She never expressed any interest in going crazy, in being a dove.
And then there's us. If this is is you, you know who you are. We live out, full out, 110 24/7 365. These are more than numbers to us. We may not know who we are, but we know who we will be, and who we've been. If we don't know where we're going, we know where we've been. We are not afraid to cry, and we are usually the strongest ones. We live by the motto, "You should not need a mirror to tell yourself that you are beautiful" or "Live Love Learn Laugh". We are the doves.
The second I turn 18 is the second I become who I always knew I would be.
It's the second I fly away, my wings never missing a beat. These wings will take me to Hollywood. They will take me to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Italy, London...these wings will never bring me home.
I've learned that I don't need a shoulder to cry on, and that it's okay to be alone for awhile. I've learned that I don't have to go to my hometown to feel at home. But I've also learned that friends are a powerful source of who you are, and you can never let that go.
