Our Story
The Demon Wings | Angel Heart Charity was founded April 29, 2008 in a dimly lit hospital room as three friends sat around with laptops trying to stay awake.
We had known each other since high school but life had made us drift apart. Mere weeks before the charity began, we met back up and became active again on Gaia to keep in touch. The three of us- Queenie, Xion, and Blaize- all started quest threads and supported each other by talking and bumping in our threads.
We couldn't help but notice a lot of problems with questing and charities in general. If we didn't have each other, we'd be posting in our quests all alone because no one ever took the time to stop by. And we all applied to many different charities, but received very little for our efforts. It was frustrating- why did charities exist if they never donated to anyone? That is when we started coming up with the idea to create a charity together. After all, when we finished our quests, we would need somewhere to hang out and call home.
That time came much, much sooner than we expected. 0h Baby, an old Gaia member that wanted to leave Gaia to focus on her real life (congrats, girl! I know you're going to make a great mommy! whee ) made the incredible donation of a Nitemare Scarf to Blaizekit, completely finishing her quest for her. In turn, Blaize was able to donate her remaining gold to Queenie and Xi, who finished their quests quickly as a result.
With our quests out of the way, we could start planning our charity. That was when real life circumstances suddenly gave us more than enough time together to do so. Queenie and Xi came to the hospital to support Blaize who was staying there overnight with her mother, who was in a vegetative state suffering from a violent type of skin cancer that invaded her brain. Creating the charity that night became a welcome distraction, and we stayed up all night on Gaia that night. Two days later, Blaize's mother died.
To support cancer awareness, we chose to continue the sentiment of the Daffodil Movement and give out a daffodil bouquet with every donation.
Our aims as a charity include donating to everyone that applies, as well as having a welcoming and fun thread to hang out in.
The first thread of DWAH had almost reached 1000 pages when Queenie and Xi were unfairly banned. It was said that they had stolen items in their inventory. We believe that those items came from an anonymous gifter. We encourage everyone to disable anonymous gifting! Don't assume that keeping your account is always as simple as doing nothing wrong. We learned the hard way that even the illegal actions of others can get you banned.
Since Queenie was the OP of the original DWAH thread, we couldn't easily update the first page or delete the posts of spammers that came in. We got together and finally made the difficult decision to restart the thread, with Dwah_hawD as the OP. Our regulars followed us, and we were able to do a lot of revamping and expanding. We couldn't have done it without the regs! Luff them! heart
