in the game Devil May Cry 1 Ill explain it to you
dmc3 was set before 1. You remember at the end how Vergil charged at Mundus to battle him?
Vergil lost and become brainwashed by Mundus and then became Nelo Angelo.
You kill Nelo Angelo in DMC1..well he kinda exploded..whatever. Thats how Dante got both parts of his mothers amulet as well
