Finn Bálor has arrived in TNW:R, which can only mean one thing for his foes: pain.
A star in his homeland of Ireland, the United Kingdom and beyond, Bálor came up through the notoriously tough Japanese dojo systems, where he mastered hard, lightning-quick kicks and vicious submission holds.

Bálor caused destruction of another kind when he and Hideo Itami took on The Ascension at NXT TakeOver: R Evolution. Entering the contest wearing awe-inspiring body paint, Bálor showed off a more intense side of himself as he and his partner dismantled the dominant former NXT Tag Team Champions. Bálor won the NXT Championship No. 1 Contender's Tournament, which concluded at NXT TakeOver: Rival, with his victory over former titleholder Adrian Neville!

The enigmatic Irishman finally got his crack at NXT Champion Kevin Owens on the March 25 edition of NXT. After an evenly matched, back-and-forth fight in which Bálor pushed the champion to his limit, Owens eventually scored the pinfall victory.

After Hideo Itami was injured in a mysterious parking lot assault, Bálor defeated Tyler Breeze one-on-one at NXT TakeOver: Unstoppable to become the No. 1 contender to the NXT Championship! Bálor will get his chance at the title when he faces Kevin Owens in Tokyo on July 4, live on WWE Network!

In recent action, Bálor defeated Rhyno on the June 3 edition of NXT, before falling victim to a vicious Gore from Rhyno after the match. However, it all came together for Bálor on July 4, when, from Japan at Brock Lesnar: Beast in The East: Live from Tokyo, he returned to where he first became a star and caught the attention of WWE, defeating Kevin Owens on WWE Network to win his first NXT Championship.

The intense rivalry continued at the historic NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn event. In front of a sold-out Barclays Center, Bálor embraced his inner demon and survived everything Owens threw at him in a Ladder Match, including a devastating powerbomb into the ring apron. The Demon vanquished his challenger with a Coup de Grace from a ladder before scaling back up to retrieve the NXT Championship.

How Finn Bálor's title reign will play out remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: The future starts with him.
