About
Yes, well, this is my now empty profile because most of it has been deleted. So.... i shall just talk about my books
I'm in the middle of reading "Infamous Scribblers" by Eric Burns right now. It's an interesting read, but because I read Scandalmonger (by William Safire) first, it didn't tell me much I didn't already know. For instance, all of the Federalist and Republican news publications are explored in depth in Scandalmonger (the two most emphasized in the book are Porcupine's Gazette and The Aurora) so that when Infamous Scribblers gave it's chapters on the book, it was information I already had. Basically, this book would be good for an introduction to 18th century journalism; as a preparation for reading more difficult books. (Scandalmonger was excellent, I highly reccomend it.)
"Alexander Hamilton" by Ron Chernow has become my new favorite book; excellent writing and of course I like the topic.
It took me less time than expected to get through it, and it was an extremely useful guide in understanding most of the major occurances in the era, because Alexander Hamilton was involved in almost every one of them.
Founding Brothers by Joseph Ellis seemed like a short read when I first bought it; it's a small book only about 250 pages. But the reading is very involved and I found it necessary to check sources and words (I always had a copy of the constitution handy along with a dictionary) and it turned out to be a very lengthy read.
More Soon; I never stop reading
