About me
In case you've not worked it out, my name is Gary 'X' Cable. I've used the 'X' moniker for years, so I can claim it as my own dang nabbit! But enough about that- I'm a 22 year old bisexual male from somewhere in the east of England- I refer to my location as The Fortress of Arrogance simply because I think it sounds cool. I have a deviantART page where I'm also known as Xavier Anderson- Xavier's a very angry man, so I'm also known as The Space Raiders and The Mad Percussionist. They're my creative sides- I don't use them that regularly, but when I do you know about it.

Interests
"I'm...complicated."- Dorian Gray, 'The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen'
First off, I'd like to say that a Fortean is a person who reads and expands on the work of Charles Fort (1874-1932). Charles Fort shunned scientific explanations for strange phenomena, feeling that scientists came to conclusions based on their own beliefs. Charles took the middle ground when explaining phenomena- in fact, he was the first person to suggest that lights in the sky were visitors from another planet.
I love electronic and dance music. I hate it when people talk about one genre of music as if it's the only genre in the world. British rock magazine The NME said in their review of International Deejay Gigolos' retrospective box set that before the 2001 'electroclash revolution' dance music was dead. They further went on to mention that because of the antics of the so-called 'superstar DJs'- including Fatboy Slim, Paul Oakenfold, and others- all but the most hardcore of dance music fans had abandoned the genre. 2001 wasn't a vintage year for dance music, but this was the year that UK garage and breakbeat started to infiltrate dancefloors, as well as one of today's best DJs- James Holden- starting to break through the public consciousness. The moral of the story- never assume.
For about seven years I've trained as a martial artist under a number of different styles including Shotokan, boxing, kick-boxing, Tae Kwon Doe, judo, ju jitsu, aikido, muay thai and kung fu. I'm pretty much prepared for anything that happens, but chances are you'll never see me use a martial arts technique in a self-defence situation- they depend too much on certain situations and events happening. When you're in a fight with someone, anything could happen, so adaptation is the key. Random fact- kicks lose two thirds of their power when they're targeted above the waist.
I'm also a budding novelist. For the last two and a bit years I've been working on a science fiction/science fact story that's nowhere near being finished, but I love jumping in and out of it when I feel the urge. I've also got a trilogy of stories with a set of characters as well as a number of short stories that fill in the plot holes that occurred. I've also got a series of science fiction stories with a completely different set of characters which I love writing, despite the fact that they don't happen very regularly.
I draw comics too, but they're not very good graphically. If you go to deviantART and search for either Utne Wire Men or Atne Wire Men and you'll see what I mean. But just because they don't look very good doesn't mean that they're not good. I try to supplement the poor drawing with good writing, which is something I'm good at.
