Genji is quite an extraordinary Pokemon Trainer. He has gone far and wide throughout the regions, capturing and battling with his Pokemon, with whom he has a connection like no other.
Genji was raised on the Southern Island of Altomare, which is part of the Hoenn Region, but borders it with Johto. His parents passed away when he was young and he was raised by Lorenzo, a family friend. Lorenzo had a young daughter, Bianca, who was also around Genji's age. Lorenzo and Bianca became Genji's family as well as the rest of Altomare, as the people were very friendly.
Genji grew up in tune with the various Pokemon in Altomare, namely the ones in the Secret Garden, including a very special two Pokemon, known as Latios and Latias. Genji was always happy to play with them, and they enjoyed playing with him. So when Genji wasn't at school or just roaming Altomare, he was just enjoying playing with the Pokemon.
He eagerly awaited his 10th birthday so he was able to get his Pokemon trainers license, and he was rarin' to go. He decided to begin in the Hoenn Region, it being the closest to his location. He went to Professor Birch in Twinleaf Town and asked him for a Pokemon and a Pokedex. Genji knew that Pokedex Owners where selected carefully, but Genji had a feeling he could do it too. Prof. Birch assessed Genji's knowledge and feelings toward Pokemon and he was astonished and pleased to see that Genji was in tune with all different types of Pokemon.
