The next morning Telorace awoke to find himself surrounded by being he had never seen before! They were so tall Telorace had trouble seeing their faces in the shadow of the trees. They didn’t say anything to Telorace they just grabbed him under the arms and started carrying him away. As they passed the far side of the tree he had been sheltering in he caught a glimpse of the Gnomes and it seemed as if they were unconscious like the Fairy had been. What was he going to do? Where were they taking him? Why didn’t they talk to him? Telorace took a deep breath “HELPPPPPPP” he yelled with all his might, hoping someone, anyone would come help him. The being closest to him thumped him on the head and Telorace faded into unconsciousness.
Telorace walked around the garden hoping to see some clue as to what happened. As he reached the back of the garden where it met the dense forest he saw something particular. On the ground near the fence were dozens of tiny footprints and they seamed to lead away from the fence. Telorace knew these footprints they belonged to the Fairy. But what where they doing behind his garden? Teorace decided to follow the footprints to see where they lead , but it couldn’t have been the fairy they were his friends! He walked for what seemd like forever the sky was high in the middle of the sky when he found the fairy … lying on the ground unconscious and no vegetables in site.
Telorace knelt down by the nearest Fairy and tried to wake her but it was no use. Surrounding the Fairy were larger footprints Telorace recognized these also , they belonged to the Gnomes. Telorace and the Gnomes never got along but he didn’t think they would steal his vegetables. Telorace continued to walk until the moon and the sun both inhabited the sky the moon coming up and the sun going down. and he could no longer see the footprints. Telorace did not like the dark he wasn’t afraid but he just didn’t like it when it got dark. Even when he slept he kept a Fairy light burning all night. Telorace crept into the hollow of a tree for the night and tried to sleep.
Telorace always had the same thing for breakfast, eggs mushrooms and nice red apple from the nearby orchard. He would clean up his mess and get ready to go to work outside. Telorace grew vegetables in a little patch behind his tree where the sunlight shone bright every day. Telorace was lonely at times but he did have some friends and when he thought of them he was happy.
Telorace grabbed his little hat and his gardening tools opened his door and headed out into the new day. The tools in his hand hit the ground with an audible “thud” . His once beautiful vegetable garden was gone! All that was left were a few scraggly leaves and a squashed tomato. The ground around the garden was undisturbed, the fence was still standing. What could have caused such a horrible tragedy ? Tears slowly trickled down his face, all his hard work for nothing now what would he give his friends to eat? How would he feed himself? What was he going to do?
Deep in the forest living alone in the trunk of a huge hollowed out tree lived a man named Torelace. Every day was the same for Torelace, he would get up and make his bed, wash his face, brush his teeth and hair, look in the mirror and say “welcome to a new day”.
