The flames that singe, the eyes that burn!
Beware the scorching plains and fear
The guilt that you have earned!"
She took her vorpal blade in stash:
Long time the oppressive foe she sought --
So rested she under burning trees,
And pondered hated thoughts.
And, as if in a dream she saw,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came soaring through the craggy maw,
And screamed nightmares as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
She left it dead, and with his head
She gained some sanity back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my dearest girl!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
