i wrote this





Death is coming, I can feel her icy breath. Her feet fall hard, resounding in the silence. Shes coming closer, I can feel her cold stare, shes seen me. There is no running, I cant escape, I turn and face her, staring straight at her, looking into her eyes. She stares back, seeing straight into my soul. Her expression becomes puzzled, “You don’t fear me” she said.



“No, I don’t, should I?”



“No, but most do.” She responded.



“I am not most people” I replied.



“I can see that you’re different”



“Thank you” I said, confused.



“Its not your time” she sighed.



“Then why are you here?”



“When most people see me, they die of fright, even if its not their time. Whenever I pass through this world, more die from fright then I was sent to retrieve, I get to take them too.” she responded



Still confused, I just watched her.



“I like the extra company, I take all the souls I can get, but I can’t have yours. You’re too strong.”



“Thank you, “I said, again.



“When it is your time I shall rejoice, I should like to have you as company.” She said, turning to leave.



“You don’t have to wait until then, you can visit.” I replied, immediately shocked by my own words.



She turned quickly, a strange expression on her face, “I have never had someone say that before, I’ve never had a friend.”



“You do now, I should imagine you to have many interesting stories.”



“That I do—goodbye—friend.”
