About
The world wears you like I never can
You are the horizon,
a profile of skyscrapers and hills.
The sun crests your brow
and jack-o-lanterns your eye sockets
trickling firelight through the gaps in your teeth
and the curve in the corner of your mouth.
Birds croon when you release the day
like a jack-in-the-box,
and hush falls as you pull it back beneath you,
like a yo-yo.
If I could ever reach you,
I would unwind you from the sky
and use you as a scarf,
but you move like tomorrow
and I
can’t seem to shake today.
It’s alright,
I kinda like that about you.
