About
"So, Kei." My boss began, "You sure you want to take this mission. I could simply have Digi do this in your stead. I have heard stories of simply how pain-rendering this medicine is. It makes some of our most controlled mental warriors writhe in pain."
"With all due respect, sir." I replied, voice terse, "I'd really rather do it myself. This was my late sister's goal. I can't ask or expect Digi to do this."
I didn't like hearing that come from my boss. He doubted that I had the strength carry out my mission, a mission my real sister had died dreaming of its completion. I wasn't about to let something like the pain of the drug they were going to inject into my system to force my transformation in another race superficially stop me from completing it for her. The only reason he suggested letting Digi handle this mission was because she could make such a transformation with out a medical procedure, it was a natural talent that she had. Even though our boss considered her to be a failure, I was even more of one. I couldn't even shift my form beyond
this. I
was going to prove the boss wrong. I
was going to do this, no matter what.
"Besides," I continued, making my eyes and voice portray the smirk that the lower half of my face could not "I'm not one of you, am I?"
He stared at me directly in the eye before replying. "No, I don't suppose you are. Very well then. Go."
