About
A mother and caretaker of the homeless
I collect children.
No, not in that wicked-witch-of-the-forest-kinda-way.
I have 2 children of my own, 6 "adopted" daughters, 3 step-sons, and 1 step-daughter...and I have several new "sons" who have insisted they are now part of the family.
I also collect animals.
Not on purpose, but abandoned and strays just accumulate near where we live and we welcome them with love and attention. Currently, though, we live in an apartment so we are unable to adopt new family members. We still care: now we find homes or take them to the shelter.
A student of history and anthropology
I graduate from California State University Bakersfield in June with my Teaching Credential.
I have my Bachelors in History. I also have almost earned my Bachelors in Religious Studies and Anthropology, however I have my sights set on a Master's program in the future.
My desire is to teach junior High School History.
A teacher
I love to teach, and have been teaching since my brother was old enough to sit in a chair and begin writing his letters, I was 8 years old.
Since then I have almost always had someone I was teaching or tutoring, including home-school, Sunday school, camp counseling, and helping out in the public schools that my children attend.
The Spring Quarter of 2010 I was a student teacher at Standard Middle School in Bakersfield.
A reader delving into books of all kinds
I used to love Science-Fiction and Fantasy books, I still read them.
Not long ago I discovered that I really love to read non-fiction books in History, and I just discovered Historical Fiction.
I really like all things ANCIENT history from all cultures.
I also read what my kids read...Including the TWILIGHT series, Harry Potter, Animorphs, Goosebumps, Nancy Drew, and Manga Series like Basara, Fairies Landing, Vampire Game, and Blade of the Immortal.
I used to work at a library, now my home is itself quite the library.
A writer in mystery and science fiction
Just as I like to read, I have always enjoyed writing and have entertained an active imagination. Lately my writing has taken a backseat to my schooling, and I miss it a lot. But the stories are still inside my head and heart and I hope to get them out into the world eventually.
A lover of life and nature
I am a Lover of nature.
Open-minded to all that the Goddess may have to offer us.
There are no closed doors in this life, everything leads to a possibility, and the adventure is in living the moment!
A student of Religion
I had several events in my life that led to this pathway, but I have always had questions that my church and family could not answer.
When I came "out of the closet" to my family I experienced hatred and prejudice that shocked me and contradicted everything that they had ever taught me...How could their way be the "right" way when they couldn't even practice what they preached?
I had begun studying different religions and pathways of belief and talking to my wife about what I was learning and all my questions. She was awesome to talk to and always listened and shared her beliefs or the different ways that she saw things. Then she died. Contrary to my previous beliefs I was visited by her in a dream.
Since then I have been more open to what I have studied and have learned to listen to my soul.
