This is the story of how I came to be in this world...
The Wolf Kingdom...
Many years ago it was my home.
I and my siblings lived there together under the peaks of the Great Koyuki Mountains in the coldest parts of the Water Region. Our parents were no where to be found and our tribe disappeared with icy wind that came and went; we were alone.
As the days passed we grew older, soon it was time to go our separate ways. My eldest brother, Ichijin, took the liberty of guiding us to the northern outskirts of the region before setting off on his own. The rest of us, in time, did the same. I decided I would take my youngest sister, Aori, with me since she was scared to travel by herself. When she learned to overcome her fears, I set her off on her journey. I was finally doing things independently.
My adventure began when I crossed over to the Moon Region which holds our sister-tribe.
There, I discovered a Temple in which the spirits would bestow a mission upon you. I thought it sounded like fun so I went. I waited for what had seemed like hours before I finally got a response. Ookami himself appeared before me with all his power and might and told me this, "Young apprentice, you are a chosen descendant of my Pride. You must now go on a mission to the Cloud Region and be a noble Guardian of the Royals. But remember this: once you accept this task you may never return to your normal life." I thought long and hard about my decision and I just figured I had nothing to loose, so I accepted. In an instant Ookami engulfed my body in a powerful spirit-like energy and transformed me into my true self.
When I exited out of the temple many rushed over to me just to look at my strange new markings. They knew, they all knew what they were and what they meant. All those in the Moon Region who saw me bowed in awe at my highness. Things couldn't have gotten any better.
As I set foot on my journey to the Cloud Region I felt like a different person. Well sure everyone is special in there own way, but I felt I stuck out like a sore thumb! It was very cool. When I finally reached my destination I saw lots of wolves that looked totally different from the ones down on solid ground. Well for starters, IT WAS IN THE SKY! Boy I would have really liked to see the look on Ichijin's face when he saw me! (He always wanted to glory to himself) So anyway, I got terribly lost and didn't know where the heck I was. Then I was helped by a local who happened to worked in the Royal's Castle herself. The girl's name was Shikon; a beautiful she-wolf with the most gorgeous eyes. After we met, she took me to the castle and I met up with the Royals. I was surprised to find that they were actually humans! At the time I was only 17 and I didn't know much about the regulations in the society and the "Code". I had no idea that I was getting into something big. But then again, I didn't even know that it happened to everyone else as well.
The Nobles, as they call them, are the ones who are like me. The ones who are the descendants of Ookami. There are six Nobles in all; including me, of course. As I met up with them, I noticed they all had their own distinct markings-similar to mine but different in some ways. Each one of them had dead-serious looks upon their faces and looked at me cautiously. They looked so brave, mighty, and, well, Noble! And I was just a noobie, looking dumb-founded and confused; I felt like a total outsider that wouldn't fit in at all! One of them asked another if I was the new apprentice. The other shrugged and stared at me intently. Meanwhile, as I stared back at the two, Shikon confronted me about the Nobles and what they stood for. First there's Headmaster Toumoku; he's the Chief of the Nobles. He stands for Leadership and is responsible for what ordeals went on below and in the Cloud Region. He is the most respected Noble of them all. Second there's Shunken; who is Headmaster's right-hand-wolf. He stands for Excellent Wisdom and is next in line for the title of Headmaster when Toumoku passes. His intelligence is key for any strategies or plans there is to be made. Third we have Dokyou; who doesn't give out great first impressions. He stands for Courage and Bravery and can be bolder than black at times. He is the Guardian of the North Royals. Fourth is Heisei; whom I like the most. He stands for Serenity and Tranquillity and is a really nice guy. He is the Guardian of the East. Last, is Seiryoku; who gives me the creeps! He stands for Strength, Power, and Might and lives up to it! He was the youngest Noble until I came along-of course. (They call age 52 young!?!) I never thought I would ever see so much energy in some-one's eyes before I met Seiryoku. He is the Guardian of the South. And apparently; I'm the six one! But I stood for nothing until my "Judgement Day".
After ten years of portraying myself as a Noble, my "Judgement Day" had finally come. After ten long years of training and tests of my kin they finally realized my best quality; guts.
The day I was told who I was to be recognized as, Headmaster (whom I call Grandboss) annonced it like this:
"Come my brothers, and let us bestow our youngest with his true name!! Ookami has spoken! Kunio Gengetsu, you will now be known as Konjou; Guardian of the West; of Will-power and Spirit, the Sixth Noble. You are now responsible for protecting the West Royals of the Human World. Until further notice of the Royals, you will be watchman of the Emperor's daughter who is to become Emperess when the time comes."
