Dancing Round the Fire
My, how the time has flown.I've been on Gaia four years now. This profile was a little dated. *smile* RL will do that, I suppose.
I'm still a bellydancer. I still participate in the SCA when I have time. I still play doumbek, boudhran and harp when I have time. While I still want to learn fire-spinning, I just haven't had the time to devout to it. Perhaps when things settle down.
I'm still a geek-girl. A P&P RPG gamer-girl. I'm still playing the Iron Kingdoms game; it's now a homerules game since Privateer Press revamped it to match Warmachine and Hordes. We're still playing it in 3.5 rules. Unfortunately that game has become a once-every-holiday kind of game since most of us are graduated and scattered with new jobs and lives. So pretty much marathon sessions during holidays and summers when we can get together. It's sad really since we've been playing that game for years with my Dad as DM. We're getting pretty epic. I'm playing in two more games at the moment. Those are weekly now since I'm graduated and home. Clerics are cool. Oh! And we've tried Pathfinder - that was kind of fun. I'm looking forward to getting to the adventure path with Baba Yaga!
I'm still pretty much a real old-school gamer. Not much of a video gamer either, although I inherited my older siblings' original NES. I haven't surrendered that yet to the younger sibs, although I let them play with me sometimes. When my sibs and I were growing up, the 'rents would play computer games with us, but they were mostly puzzle games like Myst and Syberia. And I have a sincere fondness for Doom, which I played with my older brother (don't tell Mum!) I grew up with gamer parents, who started us out with AD&D and progressed us up to 3.5. Dad's always been our GM, although my uncle has done it a few times (he's terrible at it.) One of Dad's friends owns a gaming shop, so we have a lot of modules and minis and stuff. It's a little odd feeling now to be playing at the gaming store once a week with MY friends. Also Dad introduced me to superheros with Champions when I was about three. My first superhero team were crayon colours.
I graduated last spring with my BFA, emphasis in textiles. I'm still engaged to most wonderful fiance in the world. And from the looks of it, it will be for another year before we can pull a wedding off because Julian bought me a house.
For those of you who have asked about Julian, he's doing well. His heart seems to be stable and his doctor is happy with him.
I still love cooking. I do all the fancy baking for the family. I'm good with pastry and cakes. My sister and I are still considering going into something together that might involve baking and pottery. She does some beautiful work. A friend suggested we do hand thrown cookie jars and fill them and then sell them. The idea being that we would include an automatic monthly refill for a year or something like that.
My family still does a pirate haunt every year for the neighbourhood. We all have parts if we want and help with the build and everything, but things are a bit different because we're all grown up now. Julian and I are looking forward to doing our own Halloween thing in the new house. But we'll end up at the parents for the big party afterwards because it's my birthday. This year, I'll be working with a dinner theatre group during October, doing their costuming. It's really small, but it's a new start since I've been out of town for the years I've been at college. October is still my busy season.
So, now I'm graduated, working in a fabric store for now while I put out resumes to museums and theatre groups; renovating a house; gaming a lot, and looking forward to getting all my furniture and things out of storage in my parent's basement and into my own ... OUR own place together. (My parents are looking forward to that too since I'm taking up a lot of their haunting space.) My sister and I had been planning a double wedding next spring. I know that Julian and I probably won't be able to afford to do so but I'm not sure if my sister and her fiance will go ahead without us or not yet. If she does, I have a lot of work to do for her wedding gown.
And that's me, now. Check the journal for the first profile - I'm going to archive it there. I'm friendly, I don't bite. Well, hard.
