About
Life isn't overly easy that much I've figured on my own. Gaia is just a little reprieve from the average repetitive cycle of life. Unfortunately my current occupation doesn't allow for a lot of freedom so here I am stuck in a rut until problems sort themselves out in the end. I'm just your average curious individual looking ahead to the future.
Thought of the Moment: "*****, what?"
Song of the Moment: "Meaning of life by Disturbed"
Wish of the Moment: "I wish the world would take it easy, I'm kinda tired myself."
Quote of the Moment: "Evil chum is ever green."
The Tick (1994)

Despite the training, and the past injuries and humiliations, I found it difficult to get into the habit of pulling my cane out when I needed it. I can handle this, I would think when confronted with a darkened street. I continued thinking that way until I got into trouble again.
I was stumbling home late one night, my vision even blurrier than normal. I was proud of myself after slowing down enough to maneuver without incident for a bunch of voices blocking the sidewalk. I was proud of myself for maintaining my balance after hooking my leg on a gate someone had left open. Pride was what kept me from pulling the cane out. I could handle things just fine without any props to declare my cripple hood to the world. Then I stepped on something.
The dog-it sounded like a big dog, too- let out a yelp and jerked its leg from beneath my shoe.
"Christ, didn't you see it?" an old man, the dogs owner, shouted at me.
I stopped , thought about my situation, then turned in the direction of the voice. "Jeez, I'm very sorry... fact is, I didn't see it."
"It's a big damn dog!"
"I'm sure it is. I'm sorry Y'see, this is my fault, see, I have"-I flipped my bag open and reached inside-"I have this red-and-white cane here that I really should be using." I took the cane out for the man to see. "I'm blind, sir. I didn't see the dog, and it was my fault."
"Oh my God, I'm sorry." The anger was gone from his voice, and he touched my arm lightly. "I... I didn't know."
"It's ok there was no way you could have known. If I'd been using the cane the way I was supposed to, you would have, and this wouldn't have happened."
""I'm so sorry." he started to cry, quietly.
