They cut into it and they either cut some of the metal part off (or if it need to be bigger, add some) and then join the ends back together with fire or something.
And no, I've seen men rock rings that weren't wedding bands. Or they just wear the ring, wedding band or not, as a necklace.
And I am, actually. Both in Japan(very very very PRN over there at my family's dojo) and here. I actually have a lot of men in the classes, that I do teach. I teach Karate, also PRN.
And I am fine. I won my last martial arts competition not too long ago. The baton as been passed. And I went to get my ring resized cause it keeps slipping off
